Are you using the latest BETA version? (8.10.0010 from 2009-08-04 17:17)
I was using the public 8.10, trying the latest beta (8.10.0010) now. From a quick test it seems that the type-ahead searching is again "broken" like I reported in that thread. :( But no freezing.

8.10's type-ahead search is as broken as in v7.90, and furthermore stops working at random. Can't use this new version :(.

Yeah, I saw a problem. Might work better in the next beta.

I just reencountered the problem mentioned above, where type-ahead-find just refuses to work/do anything, but I was still using version 8.10.0010 (it was basically just before I was getting the new beta .0011)
Again the computer was in standby before it happened (with XY open), but I still don't know wheather that was the cause or not, since it had been 'woken up' for at least 2 hours (just not really used)...
Will keep you posted on new sightings of this illusive bug :)

I found a sequence which repeated this 100% in 8.10.

What I did was to enter a folder to pressing return. It had to be a folder which I hadn't visited before in XYPlorer.
The folder contained lots of subfolders and I started typing before the list had loaded completely.

After upgrading to 8.20 I cannot reproduce it anymore.
