Actually, I've been debating what happens when you have XY set to use the "Search results" tab, because now it creates a new tab if the pane doesn't contain the "Search Results" tab. Even if the inactive pane does.

This has it's merits, so I wonder if we need another option "Highlander "Search Results" tab" where there can be only one "search results" tab across all panes.

I don't think we actually do need this, so it can probably wait until some other people complain about having more than 1 "Search Results" tab. :P

There are whole applications developed for doing just this with virtual desktops, it could be very well a feature presented with screenshots and a description on the web site when the new version (XY v8?) will come out.
Yep, the DP resulted in this interesting little side feature. When I once asked for Tab groups, this is what i meant. Imagine being able to switch between any number of tab sets! Work, Music, Photos, Projects and so on. Right now I use Catalog categories to load tab sets, but having a dedicated feature for tab sets would be cool.

I don't know Don, it's not for me because I know how to change it :D (I have it on). The suggestion was thinking to new users, but it's up to you to find the balance between the most beneficial default configuration for new users and the configuration that you like more as the developer.

I wonder how many users use the classic style tabs, resp. Window Classic Theme. I'll make a poll... :)

When you look at how I designed the data storage for panes, you will see that I already had something like this in the back of my mind. Loading a new tab set would be not much more than feeding another "pane data path"... but we'll come to this later... :)

Yes, not bad at all, infact its good. The light gray background for the inactive pane fits quite well with my current color setting.

The default color was far too light for me, but once I made it sufficiently darker it wasn't bad.

Can someone explain how to to obtain values for the tweak ClrInactivePane=15266548? I am aware of the HTML kind of hex codes but not these ones.

B * 0x10000 + G * 0x100 + R

But don't worry, the next version will have it in config.

Two mini mini things, I hope not seeming too pedantic

I think I never saw a two words menu item before, so may it be better a single word like "Panes" instead of "Dual Pane"? but I can't answer, only english speaking people can

One more little thing for Don's todo list that I would surely overlook if I were a software developer :) when XY v8 will come out, the watermarked logo in about box needs to be XY8 instead of XY7

Edit: sorry, I see everywhere else in the interface is called "Dual Pane", so maybe it's ok like it's now. Anyway I leave all suggestions to wording to who knows english much better than me

Yes, "Panes" was my first idea, too. I still find it better personally... I just wonder what a newbie might make of it?

watermarked logo: :) indeed, those are the things to forget, thanks, I made a note.

So I ask the English speakers: Does "Panes" make sense as a top menu caption in this context? It certainly would look better that the clumsy "Dual Pane".

Since you had the idea of configurable menu yourself, how about having Dual panes (DP) in menu "Window". When a user checks it then the menu grows and a new menu item called "DP" or "Panes" or whatever gets added between "Tools" and "Window". That way newbie never sees any additional menu, out of curiosity if he clicks Dual pane then a menu gets added and he knows what it means.
Similarly you can hide other menus like Scripting and User under tools or somewhere else. Like you say, simple is better.

I think so.. but I've also thought for a while that the entire Main Menu needs to be reworked (just have not gotten around to collecting my thoughts on the topic).
