:info: Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Vista PC using shares on XP PC getting not available

Post by KenWhitney »

I recently upgraded from a pre 7.90.xxx version that worked fine with mapped shares, but all the 7.90.xxx versions I have tried (currently 7.90.126) have the following problems:

I have two drive letters (Z: and Y:) mapped to shared sub-directorys on an XP Pc.
When I start XYplorer(XY) the Z and Y maps show "Currently not available"
I can go into Network then the XP PC and access the sub-dirs that are mapped to Z and Y. If I click right click on the sub-dir and Map Network Drive and select the Z or Y for the subdrive, I can re-map the drive letter and it shows up in the drive list and is assesable just fine.
I can exit XY and start a new copy of XY and the z and Y Drive are OK, BUT, if I reboot Vista, I'm back to the currently not available

I've attempted to attach my xyplorer.ini file but get a message saying "The extension ini is not allowed"

Hopefully there is an easy fix :)

I had failed to mention that windows explorer shows these maped shares just fine...leading me to believe this a XYplorer problem and not a problem with the maped shares.

Re: Vista PC using shares on XP PC getting ... - A solution

Turning off Microsoft's dreaded UAC (User Account Control) fixed this problem completely for me. :D

Aha.. i was wondering how to answer this question because i was able to access shares alright from my vista. i should have realized earlier that UAC is surely dreaded. Glad you solved it yourself. :D
