Re: Move to recently used tab
Seriously, have you changed your mind on this? Any chance to see MRU Ctrl+tab in a near future?

Wow!! Thanks for that Don. Been waiting for this since long. But the logic seems a bit different from the browser style. I will check it out first.admin wrote:Yep, today.Reve_Etrange wrote:Seriously, have you changed your mind on this? Any chance to see MRU Ctrl+tab in a near future?

Today I fixed a little bug there that could come to life when you removed tabs.serendipity wrote:Just checked out this feature and so far i am quite happy with it. Thanks again Don.

Re: Move to recently used tab
Great, also the "switch to previously used tab" after closing a tab is very useful. My work flow with this feature has improved a lot, thanks again for this nifty little feature.admin wrote:Today I fixed a little bug there that could come to life when you removed tabs.serendipity wrote:Just checked out this feature and so far i am quite happy with it. Re: Move to recently used tab
Yup, thank you very much.
Would it be possible to make Ctrl-tab go backwards when you already are at the most-recent end of the MRU list? This would let the user switch back and forth between the two most recent tabs with repeated Ctrl-Tab (without holding the Control key).

Re: Move to recently used tab
I had the similar feeling because thats how most browsers handle it. But after some thought was happy with F7 which does exactly that (i.e. switch between two recent tabs).Reve_Etrange wrote:Yup, thank up very much.

But on the other hand if this is implemented then there will be one key less to remember.

Re: Move to recently used tab
Right, and it would avoid the jump to the 1st tab when you're at the end of the list - which is almost always not where you wanted to go (you probably meant Ctrl-shift-tab or you forgot where you were in the history).

Re: Move to recently used tab
I just tried the new ctrl+tab implementation, but I expected it to be different.admin wrote:Sounds good to me. Will do.Reve_Etrange wrote:Yup, thank you very much.

Ctrl+tab (hitting tab without releasing ctrl) = cycle between recently used tabs.
Ctrl+tab (releasing ctrl on every hit ) = switch back and forth between two recently used tabs.
I dont want to be too pushy, but this is how some browsers have implemented it.

That's not possible in XY because you can freely assign any shortcut, e.g. a simple "A"...serendipity wrote:I just tried the new ctrl+tab implementation, but I expected it to be different.admin wrote:Sounds good to me. Will do.Reve_Etrange wrote:Yup, thank you very much.

OK, I will use this feature for sometime and comment on it.admin wrote:That's not possible in XY because you can freely assign any shortcut, e.g. a simple "A"...serendipity wrote:I just tried the new ctrl+tab implementation, but I expected it to be different.admin wrote:Sounds good to me. Re: Move to recently used tab
You can still have the requested feature enabled when you _do_ have CTRL as part of the assignment (or any other common key modifier for that matter). The feature should be consistent with the similar Alt+Tab feature in Windows.admin wrote:That's not possible in XY because you can freely assign any shortcut, e.g. a simple "A"...serendipity wrote:I just tried the new ctrl+tab implementation, but I expected it to be different.admin wrote:Sounds good to me. If you on purpose change this key assignment not to have a common key modifier, it should be obvious that you actively have chosen not to be able to use this feature.
The implementation should be that if you have a common key modifier assigned to both "cycle forward" and "cycle backwards", these modifiers must be held between the keystrokes to be able to cycle through more than one tab at a time.
Example 1: Ctrl+Tab = Cycle backward, Ctrl+Shift+Tab = Cycle forward (this should be default). Ctrl is the common key modifier. Holding down the Ctrl key and pressing Tab several times shall step back one step each time in the history.
Example 2: Shift+Q = Cycle backward, Shift+W = Cycle forward. Shift is the common key modifier. Should work the same as example 1 but with the Shift key.
Example 3: Ctrl+Tab = Cycle backward, Shift+Tab = Cycle forward. No common key modifier. Should work like the current implementation where you can only jump between two tabs.
