Popup by Tag/Cmt column right-click
Despite having this checked in Configuration|Tags no amount of clicking variation gets this popup to show. All that materializes is the normal popup for Columns.

Have tried: a) The Column per se
b) Column header
c) Directly on a comment
As Groucho Marx once opined, "This is so simple a five year old child could do it. Quick - bring me a five year old child!"

Unless I misunderstand, that used to happen to me until I disabled View/List Style/Full Row Select.aurumdigitus wrote:Despite having this checked in Configuration|Tags no amount of clicking variation gets this popup to show. All that materializes is the normal popup for Columns.

Re: Popup by Tag/Cmt column right-click
Yes, with Full Row Select it does only work when the Tag column is left of the Name column, i.e. when the click does not select the item. I think this is what you should expect with Full Row Select.kapok wrote:Unless I misunderstand, that used to happen to me until I disabled View/List Style/Full Row Select.aurumdigitus wrote:Despite having this checked in Configuration|Tags no amount of clicking variation gets this popup to show. That is about as subtle as it gets. Is it mentioned somewhere in the fine print - Paragraph 37, Subclause 82?Unless I misunderstand, that used to happen to me until I disabled View/List Style/Full Row Select.
Regardless the popup is now there. Thanks for the headsup!

Code: Select all
v7.90.0075 - 2009-01-26 13:59
...
* File Tags: Reorganized the column clicking behavior.
Tag column:
- Left-click: toggles default tag / no tag.
- Right-click: shows menu, now with Cancel item.
Comment column:
- Left-click: nothing special = normal white click.
- Right-click: shows menu, now with "Last Comment" item (not saved
across sessions).
Behavior can be turned on/off in Configuration | Tags:
- Option "Toggle tags by Tag column click"
- Option "Popup by Tag/Cmt column right-click"
Note that, of course, the above column clicking does not work if
Full Row Select is enabled.
! List: Drawing was not well clipped in very narrow columns. Fixed.
! Statusbar did not show version info anymore. Fixed.-

Point taken.
As a practical matter, however, that may be fine for the wonks who salivate over every nuance of code change in the Beta Forum. For us mortals who rely on the Help file (and now graham's PDF) it is not so fine.

<begin shameless plug>
Well, a compromise might be to either skim/read/search my blog of all the beta forum posts at http://XYplorer.blogspot.com and/or subscribe to the emails of updates there...now, there are times when I get a couple of days behind, but I try to keep it as current as possible.
You might be able to find things via search there a bit easier as it's only that "thread".

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Hmmm, I dont know how one could help more, it is clear in the beta log. Either you read it carefully or ask in forum, which you did and got the answer in less than 24hrs. Apart from that there will be updates in wiki too. OK let me ask you, what do you think should be done in future in such a case?aurumdigitus wrote:Point taken.

Re: Popup by Tag/Cmt column right-click
Well, I agree with aurumdigitus that it would not harm adding it to the help file. I generally tend to overlook the full-row-select-crowd because I find this setting so weird...serendipity wrote:Hmmm, I dont know how one could help more, it is clear in the beta log. Oh I totally agree that it should be added. Just said that if help does not give the answer (ofcourse updating help quicker is an option) one should either look at beta log or ask in the forum.admin wrote:Well, I agree with aurumdigitus that it would not harm adding it to the help file. Re: Popup by Tag/Cmt column right-click
Do get me wrong here. Freely and unequivocally acknowledge that having posted to the Forum the answer appeared within 24 hours.
The main assertion was that for a casual user it should not have to be incumbent on him to have to monitor a Forum to keep the program running properly.
The Help file ought to have a Cautionary Notes section where potential booby traps as this one could be enumerated.
On balance the suggestion by j_c_hallgren to monitor http://XYplorer.blogspot.com is probably an amicable compromise.
