Full expand problem

Post by Gandolf »

If I expand a subdirectory with Full Expand, all subdirectories below the selected directory are displayed (as expected). Closing and re-opening Tracker then only the first level below the selected subdirectory is displayed, except for the subdirectory where I had opened files which has all levels displayed (and obviously the files). "Save setting on exit" is on. I've tried "save settings now" and the result is the same. I've also tried version 3.50.0060 (this happened to be the earliest on the hard disk).
It is not related to the level of the initial subdirectory, the Program Files folder only shows the first level on re-opening.
Operating system is XP, Tracker is version 3.50.0102

Where's the problem? Full expansion is not saved between sessions, and why should it?
BTW, why does everybody close and re-open TrackerV3 all the time? I never closed it since weeks.

The reason I wanted to save a fully expanded tree structure was to see if I could reproduce a slow start-up as Dana reported so I was trying different combinations. The slowest I could get was with several thousand files in one directory and even that was only about 10 seconds.

How do we install new versions if we don't keep closing and re-opening TrackerV3???

Yes, if the startup directory and/or any of its immediate subdirectories has thousands of files, the browsing indeed can take some time.
