Freeze during copying on Vista 32-bit

This issue will be solved when I add native Super-Fast File Copy (aka "XYcopy") which will make use of the CopyFileEx API and thus avoid any Vista Shell specifics.

Without promising anything, can you, with reasonable confidence, say that XYcopy will be a welcome part of XYplorer before 8.00? Thank you

Can you give me an idea of when this will be? Im getting tired of waiting everytime I copy a file. Im starting to use explorer to do this! a few days/ a few weeks/ a few months? This must be pretty urgent surely?

Probably rather "few months" because I decided to add Dual Pane which can be expected to take 6 months (rough guess of course).

This is very disappointing. Not being able to touch XY while it's doing the file transfers is a major blow. Something so fundamental...

Don't forget to add that this concerns only Vista SP1 32-bit. Since many apps are afflicted by this, one can expect that Vista SP2 32-bit will fix the issue.

As far as file management is concerned, I only have 2 apps: XY and WE. Moving large [amount of] files (quantity or size) is an every day task for me. WE handles such operations without problems, but XY freezes. I personally wouldn't expect SP2 until Q3-4 2009 at the earliest, which is a very long wait. Could you at least inform people on the main XY page that it's currently not 100% compatible with Vista?

We have different concepts of "compatible" and I will not spend a second on discussing this further.

As much as some of us (on ALL OS's) have been looking forward to DP, and I'm not a Vista user, I'm wondering if it might be worthwhile attempting to address the Copy issue first? I have no idea of what effort/time it would take compared to DP, but I'm just trying to think of it from a marketing POV...Yes, DP would get you more customers but they would then still have issues with copy so thus my thought to hold DP till 8.0 or so.

There are not that many Vista SP1 users. We have to see yet if "Mojave" will change the numbers...

Not that many Vista SP1 users? What OS do you think the majority of PC's are being shipped with? Man, Im so disappointed. Ive spent loads of time getting familiar with Xyplorer and now Im going to migrate, all because the developer would rather develop further features than fix major bugs.

It's not the correct way to put it. Copying worked perfectly under Vista 32 SP0 just like under XP. Now Microsoft brings SP1 and copying gets a freeze issue. Whose bug is that, huh?
I have XYcopy on my list since long and I will do it when the time has come -- because it is good, not because MS has created another problem that developers have to find workarounds for.

BTW, in Germany PC's are shipped with XP because Vista does not sell.
