Settings per folder
Yes, I would very much like to have this. Only one reason for me though: I have a folder with Jay Leno and Daily Show episodes and those need to be sorted by modified date, while videos in other folders won't follow the same pattern.

I tried the new FSS feature...
Well, to be honest, for me it's a poor implementation.
I really don't like the fact that if I go to a folder by opening a new tab via catalog the sorting is the same as in the folder I was before opening the new tab.
That makes the whole concept useless for me. Every new tab should always have a default setting.
I know the current behavior is quite common but I hoped XYplorer would be more flexible and user friendly (as my approach with templates and default setting would have been).
So it's nothing which makes XYplorer stand out of the crowd. Sure, it's an additional feature, but a poor one, not really worth to write about in the changelog. (Oh, I know, now some fanboys will start to post how wrong I am and how great this feature is.)
I will stay with my good old file manager. Thank you and Good Bye.

Remember that it's just the first 'release' so it may not yet be completely finished. Can't judge the final results by this vers. But maybe as a newer XY user, you may not be aware of this.moonwalker wrote:I tried the new FSS feature...

Again, it takes feedback from users like you to help guide the final results. I've not yet had enough time to see what I might suggest as adjustments.moonwalker wrote:I really don't like the fact that if I go to a folder by opening a new tab via catalog the sorting is the same as in the folder I was before opening the new tab.

And do you know for sure that it won't get to that point? I certainly don't.moonwalker wrote:I know the current behavior is quite common but I hoped XYplorer would be more flexible and user friendly (as my approach with templates and default setting would have been).
I'm not at all saying you're wrong, but have you seen just how extremely detailed the change logs are? Some items listed are extremely minor compared to this, and I'd much rather have full details on changes than just a summary like other products. Also, I'm not saying that this feature is great yet, as it's still too new, both to me and XY.moonwalker wrote:So it's nothing which makes XYplorer stand out of the crowd. What? Leaving so soon? How will XY get to be what users want if they bail out that quickly? There are some features that took a number of revisions to get to where they are now. Stick around, work with us, and then decide. That's how this product gets developed.moonwalker wrote:I will stay with my good old file manager. Thank you and Good Bye.
Oh, and BTW, XY is not my only activity in life....just my favorite software product with which I can make use of some of my old job skills after I retired, and have some fun interacting with others as I have no family left.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
