List managements lists cropped

Post by RalphM »

When opening Customize File Associations #614 the window came up cropped at the bottom as follows:

After expanding it at the bottom the missing buttons showed up but when I make it smaller from the bottom again, the buttons at the bottom disappear again.

That's intended. That dialog needs a certain height to show all the buttons stacked on the right side. The size is remembered, set it once and you're done.

Wouldn't you rather compress the list area and have all the buttons shown at all times?
Doesn't seem intuitive to me.

I don't see how to do that. :eh:

Well in my case even with all the surrounding buttons shown there would have been space for multiple (7-10) lines in the list.
I just think, all of the buttons at the bottom should always be visible and if you pull the bottom border of the window up, it should keep them visible and shrink the number of lines in the list, probably up to a minimum of 2-3 and then not shrink the window any further anymore.

Not here. :?

- Can show a screenshot of the exact moment where the bottom buttons don't move anymore and start being cropped?
- What's your values for line spacing and overall spacing?

There's actually 17 lines still visible when the buttons start to get cropped, see below:

And settings as follows:

Looks good. Just like here. I see no way to keep all buttons visible while further shrinking the window.

Just realized that the stack of buttons on the right is what keeps the list area from shrinking to less than 17 lines, so maybe the minimum size of this window should be "all the buttons on the right plus the ones at the bottom"?

Not a fan of limiting the window size. There should be another solution, something more fluid. But low prio for now.
