2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

Error on right click

Post by t3hleak »

Hello. Ever since i moved from the 32bit version to the 64bit i randomly get this error message when i try to right click on a selection of multiple files. This popup just shows with 2 buttons of Copy and Close and an info box of what i copied below.
Sometimes it shows a smaller popup with just the error code and xyplorer crashes.
I dont know with what files it could happen or with what filenames, that part is random. Although if it happens with some files, it will keep happening with those. And with that exact group of files only too, cause if i select a smaller group of the same files its working fine, but if its the combo of those exact number of files it gives the error

It's hard to say what's going on without a better pattern. Please let us know if you see one.

I tried replicating it today with multiple files and succeded some times. It never happened with ".jpg" files, but it did happen with video files (mp4/mkv) and/or data files from Steam folder, and/or .pdf files. Although, it can happen again if pictures are in the selection with the video files.

Once i reach a selection of 16+ certain files it gives this error when i try to right click. If i lose one file from that selection whatever it is, it works fine. It happens with only certain video files and seems random so far cause even in the same folder of 100+ videos it doesnt happen with any combo. There are no special characters in the filenames or another language, they are all in english.

One time it crashed with the the smaller popup as i mentioned earlier, with just the error code and below it said "Not Implemented". So i reopened xyplorer and the same selection of files afterwards doesnt give an error. I browsed a bit on different folders, went back to those files some minutes later, it gave the small popup error again and crashed.

Often that error stops when i uncheck the option "Hide shell extensions from shell context menu", but (i think, not sure/not tested enough) it might popup later in another selection. And if i select "Native context menu" it gives another small error popup with the caption "Automation error" and crashes.

So its not only random so far with what files it will do it, but when it will also. I will update if i make more observations.
For now i will also leave unchecked the option "Hide shell extensions" to test it further

That's very surprising. Could you attach a screenshot of that error to your next post?

I could not reproduce that error, although i havent been trying much.

With the option "Hide shell extensions from shell context menu" unchecked i havent gotten any errors past few days so i kept it like that.

This indicates that you have faulty third-party shell extensions on your system.
