Strange (not responding) at start takes above 10 min

Post by gruber »

After switching to new version 28.30.3000 the program starts but window doesn't appear so quickly and also after it appears, it takes more time (> 10 min) to make it responsive.
It's some different from previous versions

Seriously the program need to show all processing status (not showing just not responding), in order to not be taught as a malware.

What the app does on start up, if it shows status (not responding)? No control is available yet at this time.
If the program does have operation status window so at start is also invisible.

No difference in load times here but on Win11.

If you paste

Code: Select all

text get("LoadTimes");
in the address bar and hit Enter you should see what is causing the long wait.

1) From which version did you switch?

2) Your tree has 6217 nodes. Are all these nodes needed for your tasks? Otherwise I would think about using the Mini Tree.

Yes, I think that's related to the 6217 nodes. 10 minutes is extreme, of course, so probably one of these nodes has a problem (network?).

What is nodes, mini tree, maxi tree; how those are related to panes - files/folders view?

In my options I've checked:

Expand tree nodes on drag-over
Check existence of subfolders in tree
In network locations as well (not checked up)

Now I've turned 2 settings off

Does it will change load time significantly?

I only have 2 or 1 tab open, do not need to expand all the paths in the history

What I mean by this: Your tree is pretty big. And it grows and grows because you ticked Configuration | General | Tree and List | Tree | Remember state of tree. If you don't need it that big, there are means to shrink it.

thanks, I already switched to mini tree and also have unchecked 'remember tree state', both give perfect load time
