NewItems disappeared from context menu

Post by TedL1972 »

I had problems with certain items showing up on both the Windows Explorer and XYPlorer right-click context menu after installing latest update. For this reason I played around with various settings and had to use also ShellExView to fix things. One problem that I can't resolve still is having the "New" as in NewItem showing up on both the XYPlorer and Windows Explorer right-click context menu.

I tried many different fixes and nothing worked. I use this almost daily to create new Word Docuements and Excel documents. I do have these two properly in the NewItems folder accessible through <xydta> yet the "NewItems" is still not showing up.

Genreral | Menus, Mous, Usability | File list - doesn't provide any customization possibility.

I can access NewItems via Edit and NewItems, that is available and works fine but I really would like to have back the same in the right-click context menu.

Please let me know if there is a fix for this.

Does it work with a fresh instance? (Run fresh; through the address bar)

Yes the refresh instance provides NewItems with the right click.

Since I have a catalog set up, lots of bookmarks, etc. is there a way to clone this configuration into the [fresh] instance?

I'd rather investigate why it's missing from your setup. Could you show a screenshot of the menu where it's missing?

OK, I made a screen shot of both context menus and they are attached here.

These are context menus of list items. The "New Items..." command has never been in those. You have to right-click the list's white space to get the context menu featuring "New Items...".

These are coming up by right clicking the empty white space not on the list items. When I right click on the actual list items the context menu (Windows Explorer) is longer than the one I have posted. The "NewItems" have always worked and they still work on the fresh instance that you had me try before. They just don't show on the one I have configured currently.

Maybe you enabled Full Row Select in the list. Because those are definitely not context menus for white space.

I did have Full Row Select. After your message I unselected it, logged out and logged back in but nothing changed.

Can you show a screenshot of your file list with one file selected?
