Hello XYplorers
I used to be able to change the width of the tree pane by the usual hover-until-arrow-appeared, then left click and drag. A few days ago it stopped doing that. I can still do it with the dual-pane display to change the width of each of the two panes. I can resize the width of the data-columns in the file-list pane.
I've searched through the Help docs and found refs to "LockTree" but not found a menu item that will help. I've scoured the WWWeb and found descriptions of the problem, but the solutions refer to some things that I can't find in my installation. There's reference to the configuration file, but when I searched that for "LockLayout" it showed "not found"!
Please help - it's a feature that I'm in the habit of using frequently (I have some pretty broad tree-branches in places!)

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
It worked with 28.30.0700 and then it stopped working with the same version?

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
I don't remember when it happened. I've recently bought a new laptop and installed 18 programs. One was XYplorer. I was using it on the old laptop to facilitate the change-over, so it's not clear whether or not I ever had resizable tree-pane on the new one.
Is there an option to disable the resizing?

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
Well here's a mystery! When I login to my laptop as "Admin" all is normal - I can resize the tree-pane
(I have the cautious setup - normal, everyday use under a non-admin-rights account, admin account as a separate login only when elevated powers needed).
Searching through the Help documentation for "flexible" I discovered that it's possible to disable certain features in the "Enterprise" version. Corporate IT controllers can set XYplorer so that ordinary users cannot change certain things. There's a large range of features that can be controlled in this way. It's all done by text-entries in a file "Admin.ini".
I searched for that file but coulnd't find it (not in the "ProgramFiles/XYplorer" nor "Users" directories). Maybe that's not the root cause of my problem, but it does show that if I put the file in place, things could be ... influenced! (I read that an Enterprise version upgrade got done under certain circumstances).
Any clues as to how to get out of this bind?

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
All features are always available, regardless of whether you are an "Admin" or a "User." And this has nothing to do with the Enterprise edition.
It's mysterious indeed. The 350% scaling might be a factor. XYplorer has never been tested under these conditions. However, the fact that it works as an admin seems to exonerate that as the cause of the issue.
I'm currently out of ideas.

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
I've been experimenting with the "Configuration File" and parameters for pane sizes and such. Is there one for the width of the tree-pane?
Before I ventured that far, I got myself in a bit of a fix. I was testing the sizing of the ordinary panes and I dragged the left-border of the right pane as far to the left as I could. That made the left pane almost invisible (I could just see the line-numbers or 1st letters of the filenames). I could not drag that border back! It was stuck! I looked for "pane width" in the config file and found that it was a very small number (8?). I changed it to 800. When I restarted XYplorer, the left panel was resizable again
One interesting thing I found was that Admin-User and Ordinary-User have their own sets of files. I suppose that's to be expected - each user having unique "Profiles" for/i other software packages. I had tried, earlier, uninstalling XYplorer reinstalling, but the tree-pane problem remained. I think the "AppData/XYplorer" files were left behind re-sused by the fresh XYplorer installation!
I did take copies of the "Admin" and "Ordinary" XYplorer config files and compared them (using "UltraCompare") and there were quite a lot of differences. I haven't had chance to look into the details yet (that was before I got the left pane stuck) - I'll leave that until I've heard back here
I'll also change the screen scaling to 100% and see if that helps.

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
Well, what do you know! I changed the screen scaling to 100% and the tree-pane became resizable

I changed the scaling to 250% (shown as "Recommended") and the tree-pane is still resizable!
The text is rather small, but I'll experiment and see how big I can get the rescaling factor before XYplorer stops co-operating
Cheers,
BH

Re: Tree pane has stopped being resizeable
Thanks
But now for the further puzzle - I stepped up the scaling ... 300% = OK.
350% ALSO OK!

Now I know what to do if it misbehaves again (but not why!)
