Why Did you Delete My Post?

Post by Paperboy »

Why did you delete my post? It was totally legitimate. It is a bug, but yet you refuse to address it. This bug does not exist on Windows Explorer. The delete button is supposed to be greyed out when neither files nor folders are selected.

If you cannot fix it, or if you don't want to fix it, then say so.

You tried to revive a cold case. That's a no no. It is not a bug but something you (and only you) wish to have. The wish was not granted. Repeating it won't help your case.

But can you please fix it because sometimes I might accidently delete a whole folder on the tree side?

Under which circumstances would that button delete a folder in the tree if nothing is selected?

It is because I would think a file or folder has been selected on the right-hand side when in fact it is still focused on the folder side which is the left-hand side. Even if this were not the case, it is nevertheless a bug because in Windows Explorer the delete button is properly greyed out when nothing is selected. This is how it should be. I thought that the admin would have addressed the issue by now considering that it should not be that complicated to fix. I mean, I don't think he has to rewrite the entire code of the program itself from scratch to fix this simple problem.

I tend to differ^^

When I select a folder in the tree in WE the button is greyed out but the folder IS selected in the tree. And if you press the delete key, that folder WILL be deleted.
In other words: I'd call it a bug that the button is greyed out in WE because there is an active selection.
The only difference is: That WE won't let you delete a folder in the tree directly via the button.

Your options are:
- Use the SetFocusTo= tweak, e.g. set it to 1
In that case you can't delete a folder in the tree (without using the context menu on an entry) because it won't have focus.

- Create your own delete toolbar button
Check what is selected and where and act accordingly

You can say what you want. But the delete button should be greyed out when nothing is selected. This is something which the admin had overlooked, until someone like myself had brought it to his attention.

That is not entirely true. Nothing can indeed be selected on XYplorer.

Sorry, Paperboy, but this is nonsense. Stop making false claims. Thread closed.
