Do you see the same problem when typing in the XYplorer address bar?

I don't see any way to fix this at the moment.

Do you see any patterns? Is there anything about these characters that distinguishes them from all the characters that work normally?

One more clue, i find that if i write down the abnormal Chinese words in other places, then copy and paste it to the xyplorer to rename. it works.
I am not familiar with IT. Maybe the Chinese input logic conflict with something??

The question is why (only?) 自 and 龙? Must be some quirk in the Chinese Input Method Editor (IME).

There is nothing I can do about it at the moment. :|

Maybe I find something interesting.
I found that when the unicode bigger than 8000, the Chinese words can't be input, but can be copy from other software and and paste to xyplorer.

Interesting, thanks.

Did you already try it with the new 64-bit version? Here you find the current beta: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28739&sd=d

Strange. There are countless Chinese users, and I heard nothing from them about such a problem.

PS:
Oh, I got it now!
I can enter 自(zi) and 龙(long) without problem in the 32-bit version, but the 64-bit version fails just as you describe.

PS2:
Wrong analysis. The real cause was an enabled Configuration | General | Controls & More | Miscellaneous | Enable surround selection.

Unticking this should solve it: Configuration | General | Controls & More | Miscellaneous | Enable surround selection
