DllHost.exe - Application Error

Post by zakoul »

Hi. If the XY setting, Preview/Thumbnails/ set 'For videos as well', then an error occurs on some files when creating thumbnails.
Файлы могут быть любыми, в разных папках на моих дисках, но чаще всего это файлы*.ts.
XYplorer sometimes displays a window with an error:
download/file.php?mode=view&id=23239
A report is generated in the Windows event log:
- EventData
AppName DllHost.exe
AppVersion 10.0.26100.1
AppTimeStamp 807e878c
ModuleName IcarosThumbnailProvider.dll
ModuleVersion 3.3.3.301
ModuleTimeStamp 67c43b37
ExceptionCode c0000005
FaultingOffset 0000b445
ProcessId 0x4098
ProcessCreationTime 0x1db9d4b1af7557f
AppPath C:\Windows\SysWOW64\DllHost.exe
ModulePath C:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack\Icaros\32-bit\IcarosThumbnailProvider.dll
IntegratorReportId 9c7fc9f1-3c96-4046-9ccc-87a14d81c882

If you disable 'For videos as well' in XY settings, there is no problem with thumbnails.

But in Windows Explorer there are no problems. Previously in XY I always had error 6 when creating thumbnails if Preview/Thumbnails/ set 'For videos as well. And now IcarosThumbnailProvider.dll error instead of error 6.

Can't do anything. Not my error. But it may go away with the 64-bit edition.

I run the current version of K-Lite Standard (18.8.7),
which also contains the actual Icaros thumbnailprovider 3.3.3.301.
No problems creating video thumbnails in XY.
Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7462)
Portable x64 XYplorer (Actual version, including betas)
Display settings 1920 x 1080 Scale 100%
Everything 1.5.0.1402a (x64), Everything Toolbar 2.1.1, Listary Pro 6.3.6.99

I finally managed to solve my long standing problem.
In the past, I always installed 'K-Lite Codec Pack Basic' and had no problems with videos, until XY introduced the option to display video sizes on thumbnails. When I turned on 'For videos as well' in XY, I was randomly getting error 6 when creating thumbnails, and in recent versions of XY I was getting the 'IcarosThumbnailProvider.dll' error.
Today I installed 'K-Lite Codec Pack Standard' (without MPC) and this error disappeared. The size on thumbnails is displayed correctly, although there are some files where the size is not displayed.

Issue resolved.

And the Basic package had the same version as the Standard package?

What happens when you uninstall the Standard and reinstall the Basic (ofc same version)?

I guess I jumped to conclusions.
The last version that I had installed and got error 6 was 'K-Lite Codec Pack Basic 18.8.0'. I uninstalled it and installed 'K-Lite Codec Pack Standard 18.8.5'. The error disappeared.
Then I installed 'Standard 18.8.0' and 'Basic 18.8.0' and the error reappeared. Then I installed 'Basic 18.8.5' and 'Standard 18.8.5' - the error disappeared.
It turns out that the problem is not in Basic or Standard, but in 18.8.0 and 18.8.5. Apparently in version 18.8.5. was something fixed.
