Nothing changed on my end. Most of the drives go to sleep. I started to notice a recurrence of the problem some versions ago. I realize my set up with over 2 dozen drives is not an easy situation to test with. But you recognized initially there was a problem when I first posted this thread and that it bothered you too. And you did do something that resolved it. But it's now back.

Are there any relevant settings or tweaks I should consider looking at?

Are you using any of the new Content-Based Folder Icons? Especially the /n switch one ("no files") may cause wake up.

Yes, I just started using the /n and /e folder icons. But I saw the problem start manifesting again before that. However, I will disable them and see if there's any improvement...

Ok, yes. It WAS the content-based folder icon feature. I disabled it, and tested the Favorite Folders menu after a long wait and it popped up right away. I verified that the external drives for some of the locations on the menu were asleep, based on the delay in going to the folder in the List once selected from the menu.

Content-Based Folder Icons are a nice feature, but not essential for me, and I certainly don't need them in any of the menus. I already get an empty folder indication in the Tree and List from a color filter I've configured.

Perhaps you can consider an option to exclude menus for the content-based folder icons?

Thanks for the help.
