Windows Quick Access additionally to XYplorer Rapid Access possible?

Post by charon »

Dear all,

perhaps anybody has a solution to the challenge I'm struggling with:

XYplorers Rapid Access is an essential feature for my daily work using XYplorer:

Rapid Access is available inside XYplorer but not outside for example if I use Words Open file dialog:
Word Open file dialog with Windows Quick Access

As you can see, there's only Windows Quick Access available. That's by default and I guess not changeable...

For editing Windows Quick Access it's necessary to use Windows File Explorer: Show Quick Access links, Remove Quick Access links, Add Quick Access links (also available in XYplorer):

So Rapid Access is useful but Quick Access is useful too - it depends on the individual use.
Would it be possible to add Windows Quick Access also to XYplorer's folder tree?
It would be handy to have everything (Quick Access and Rapid Access) at one place and I prefer XYplorer for that:

Just an idea and faked...

For example Directory Opus offers the feature:

It would be great if there will be a possibility to add Windows Quick Access in XYplorer's folder tree.
Perhaps it's yet available but I missed it so far.

Thank you in advance for an answer!

You're not talking about the Links folder (Configuration | General | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Select Items...)?

No, Links folder is a different feature.
I thought about using it, but outside of XYplorer the Links folder nested deeper in the folder structure. So the quick access won't be so quick as I try to achieve.

Here the implementation in XYplorer:

In XYplorer the the Links folder is easy to access and being filled with links.

Outside of XYplorer in Windows Explorer I have to crawl a little bit deeper into the folder structure to access the Links folder:

And the same appearance of the Links folder applies to Word Open dialog:

In Word Open dialog I have to crawl deeper into the folder structure to access the Links folder.
If you compare the handling of the Links folder to choose a favorite folder to the handling of Windows Quick Access (shown above with dotted green surrounding) to achieve the same result I guess it's obvious what I try to explain.

In Open, Save, ... dialogs of many apps it seems to me much handier to use Windows Quick Access links than to use XYplorers Links folder.
