Alt-tab in inline rename

Hi folks!

I just moved to to the latest beta and have found that if I Alt-Tab (switch Windows) while the inline name edit box has focus, the edit box moves down to the next file. Is this intended?

To repro:

Select a file in the LV.
Press <f2>.
Start to rename the file.
Press Alt-Tab.
Now when you switch back to XY the inline edit box is now on the next file in the list.

This has the side effect that any edits of the first files' name have been saved. Whoops!

Edit: It seems that pressing tab while the inline edit box has focus moves the inline edit box to the next file. Interesting...

the tab functionality while in rename mode was added a few months ago:

    + List: Now when in rename mode, pressing the Tab key will apply the 
      changes and immediately open the rename box for the next item in 
      List. Shift+Tab will do the same for the previous item in the List. 
      The function wraps around the upper and lower ends of the list.

However, i could not reproduce the behaviour you describe. When i want to switch windows (with Alt-Tab) while in rename mode it does the following:

-) the inline edit box is "closed" and the new name is applied
-) the window does NOT switch
-) the focus does NOT move to the next file in the list

So... quite a difference here what happens when pressing ALT-Tab while renaming a file... i don't know what the "correct" behaviour is for this situation.

I cannot reproduce the issue either. Close the edit box, apply the rename. Explorer does exactly the same.

Yep, that does it. But that's not a bug, that's user malfunction.

Update to the latest beta - I was running version 7.00.0048 and got slightly different behavior than you, Don, or Pagat saw:

• the rename box remains open on the same file
• the window switches
• If I Alt-Tab back to XY, the rename is left open and I can continue renaming the file.

After updating to 7.10.0015 I see Don's behavior which is same as Explorer.

Whoops! Thanks for the heads up. I didn't even notice. So many changes to remember and I don't remember things like I used to.

Perhaps, but I'd still consider that poor behavior from XY. I'd bet very few users that are quickly switching between two windows are actually holding down Alt long enough in this scenario.
