Location not available & Auto-refresh

Post by jacky »

I think this is how to reproduce this :

- You need to have auto-refresh on.

- Open a new tab, and go somewhere. Okay now create a new folder, go in, and activate another tab. Wow, you're good! :P ;) Sorry.

- Delete the newly created folder, so that you have a tab on a "location not available"

- Activate that tab, you get the usually gray message instead of the List. So far so good. But, first little visual glitch : it used to be that the tab would not have any icon, and at first (or after a restart) that's the case.
But, that used to remain true, while now activating the tab gives it an icon. I'm not sure how it works, because with my XY it's the drive icon, always, while with a copy I used to do some testing it was a drive when the tab I come from was a drive, a folder when a folder. Anyways, I'd like it better without anything, cause it's a great visual indicator of "not available" :)

- Okay, here's the bug : XY stays on that not available tab. Now with another XY (instance, not tab), you go in the folder you were before activating that tab, that is the location of the tab you used to be before activating the tab to a location not available.

When you're there, we need to trigger the auto-refresh, so create a new folder.

- Go back to the old XY, and see that as a result the List is now showing !! It's empty, but it's there, giving us the impression that we are on that folder (the one that doesn't exist), as the activate tab does say.

However, we're not there (obviously). We're in fact, as the AB or window title would say, still on that old location (hence auto-refresh there). And if we try to create a new folder on that tab pointing to a non-existing location, it automatically disappears! And in fact, it has been created, only not where we think we are, since that location doesn't exists, but in the one we used to be before (which in our case maybe the parent, since we went there to delete the folder, but it could be a completely different one, on another drive...).

That's it. I hope that was clear enough : activating a tab pointing to a non-existing location will get the List to show up if auto-refresh was enabled on the previous location (or if we "un-suspend it") and something happens to trigger it. Then, you're not where we think we are / where it looks like we are.
Also, I like it best without any icon. ;)

hmm, another bump, cause it is still here, and it can be pretty confusing when it looks you're somewhere though you're not, and you can still create/paste items but you may not realize where you're putting all those files/folders...

Yep, it's gone! Well done :D

And thanks for the no-icon thing also, I really like it better that way :)

Me too, I have no idea why I changed it (probably overworked).
