I select a directory.
Right click, Zip, Add to "name".zip
7-Zip zips the directory up
When finished, "Apparently the zip failed. Mo items have been added to the archive"
Using XYplorer to get 7-Zip to open zip file, files zipped match files in directory, all looks ok
Open zip in File Explorer indicates the zip is ok.

Re: No items zipped spurious error message
Out of memory? I tried zipping an empty dir and also received the error message.

Re: No items zipped spurious error message
This will be fixed in the next beta.
But I cannot repro a problem zipping non-empty folders.

Re: No items zipped spurious error message
Just stumbled over something, but not quite the above scenario.
Try the above, BUT attempt to zip a folder that is in the root dir, I get "File not found or no read permissions", and an empty zip file is created in the root dir, and the error as above is also displayed
BUT just tried it again and it worked ???

Did it happen only once and never again?

Re: No items zipped spurious error message
Once so far.
Ok ... I have XP set up (probably the default) with a list of folders on the left and two other windows, which show either files or folders
I am getting a different right click menu, if I click in folder list on the left, where I only get the 7-zip menu to zip. If I change it so I can click the folder in the middle window I get a zip sub menu - AND that is when I get the "Apparently" message - it is interesting that the message appears while the zip progress window is still open.

Re: No items zipped spurious error message
Ok, more on "Access is denied" testing.
Change my left window to drive C, select \Users, right click and Add to users.zip, and I get "Access is denied, cannot open file C:\Users" .. so it is a 7zip problem?

Re: No items zipped spurious error message
C:\users is write protected.
Only your own subtree is writable by default.
