This fixed it for me.... Thanks.highend wrote: ↑26 Sep 2017 19:25 Try to fix it with http://www.thewindowsclub.com/file-asso ... ows-10-8-7
If it doesn't work, shut the damn buggy Windows 10 default association questioning system off
by editing the group policy:
gpedit -> Local Computer Policy -> Computer configuration -> Administrative templates -> Windows Compononents -> File Explorer -> Do not show the 'new application installed' notification -> Enabled.

Re: Windows Set File Associations Ignored?
How do I use this file association tool to open up an AutoCAD file that first looks to see if the program is already open. I've copied my shortcut target to the Tools>File Associations and added
DWG>"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2025\acad.exe" /ld "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2025\AecBase.dbx" /p "mArch" /product "ACA" /language "en-US"
which has switches to open up my profile in AutoCAD, but every time opens a new instance.
Thank you.

Re: Windows Set File Associations Ignored?
I think you should use something like this instead:
It should load with the correct settings of the last opened AutoCAD automatically.
DWG>"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AcShellEx\AcLauncher.exe"
It should load with the correct settings of the last opened AutoCAD automatically.

Oh....that is simply beautiful! Thank you so much.
How did you know that?

Re: Windows Set File Associations Ignored?
Strangely, this worked the day you provided the solution. Ever since, it persistently opens the older version of CAD.
Any further tips?

Re: Windows Set File Associations Ignored?
It should always load in the version last used, so make sure the other version isn't running then try and launch AutoCAD 25 from the start menu once.
Re: Windows Set File Associations Ignored?
That is my experience. I have had 2 versions of CAD verticals for 20 years. Same approach. For some reason, it seemed not to comply for a few days, but it is working right now that way....so I don't know. I might need some additional sleep.
Thanks,
