Foobar2000 UI freeze when opening file location with Xyplorer as default file manager

Post by silverwings15 »

this happens on both the latest Xyplorer Stable (25.80.0200) and Beta (25.80.0301), when it is set as the default file manager. when i right click a track in foobar2000 (2.1.3 32-bit, https://www.foobar2000.org/download) and open its containing folder, foobar UI freezes up for about 10-15 seconds, though the file is still instantly shown in Xyplorer interface. does not happen with FIle Explorer or with my previous default file manager Directory Opus. others have reported their own similar experience and concluded that is is an issue with Xyplorer and not foobar2000.

any help would be appreciated!

"Others have reported their own similar experiences..." Not so similar. AFAIK others have reported that "open containing folder" works (immediately) in XY, but selecting the file in that folder does not. The latter is something that cannot be fixed.

sorry, let me clarify:

other users of foobar2000 (the music player) have verified that fb2k UI does indeed freeze for up to 15 seconds, when you:
- choose a track inside of fb2k interface
- right click on the track and choose "open containing folder", which would open the file in Xyplorer (provided it's the default file manager).

there is no slowdown regarding Xyplorer that i experienced, only with regards to its interaction with fb2k that results in fb2k freezing up

XYplorer does not provide the interface that fb2k expects, but waiting 15 seconds seems a bit long. You should talk to fb2k about this.
