Inactive pane current tab color

Post by JLoftus »

In the active pane, you can set the current tab color (foreground and background) to make it very clearly obvious which tab is current.

However, in the inactive pane, it seems the only distinction for the current tab is that it appears bolded and very slightly larger.
Request: Ability to set the inactive pane's Selected Tab background and foreground colors.

Looks clear enough to me with the default settings:

Hmm, I see that in Fresh; too, however, once you apply any colors in the Colors Configuration section, the distinction for the inactive pane appears to be lost, even in Fresh;

Update: This behavior is somewhat negated if you tick "Match selected tab with breadcrumb bar", but, that still does not then honor the selected tab text color (which I feel should be disabled if you choose "Match with breadcrumb"), so it's not quite clear or perfect, but I will take the tradeoff of selecting Match breadcrumb, if that's the only way I can have custom tab colors AND have the current tab in the inactive pane differentiated from the rest of the tabs in the inactive pane.

May be relevant too: I'm in Dark Mode, you may have to toggle Dark Mode to see different behaviors.

Yes, you might have a point there. Could you show a screenshot of Configuration | Colors and Styles | Colors?

Also, if any of these are chosen, the inactive pane loses distinction of the currently focused tab, it becomes the same color as all of the tabs in the inactive pane.

Next beta will be better.

BTW, this is Windows 11, right? Those rounded buttons look terrible. Is there any way to turn this off? :ninja:

Yes, Windows 11, no, there's no native way to change controls appearance. You can probably skin/theme, but I've found third party theming systems almost always have limitations, tradeoffs, or other collateral issues, just not worth it.

I will say, for my own preference, I love Windows 11, I love the rounded corners and I love the centered start menu (I was against the centered start menu initially but have come to recognize that it's far more efficient, especially on ultrawide monitors).
