Hi, I work for a large corporation which uses Microsoft Defender to scan for suspicious files. XYcopy.exe is being flagged as a "suspiciously named process detected" every day since I installed XYplorer. Obviously this is a false positive but I am getting heat from them since they seem unable to add the process to the list of "safe processes". From what I have seen in the alerts it seems to flag it because of it's name, the EXE is digitally signed. Questions:
1) Can I rename XYcopy.exe to something else to see if I can avoid triggering the alerts?
2) What happens if I rename or delete XYcopy.exe to prevent alerts?
3) Anything else you can suggest?
Thanks

Re: XYcopy.exe false positives
Hmm, alerts based on the filename? Sounds pretty stupid to me.
No, you cannot rename it without losing its functionality (background processing). But hey, life is possible without background processing. Yes, you can as well simply delete the file. XYplorer.exe happily works without it.

Re: XYcopy.exe false positives
Thats a stupid IT depeartment.
There is no problem to add process name exceptions in Defender.
I run the actual version of Defender and its signatures with no problem in XY.
