How to have the menu bar in black in dark mode ?

Post by Christophe »

Hi, I have clicked on XYplorer dark mode icon in the taskbar, but the menu bar is staying white :

How can we have it black to have a proper XYplorer dark mode ?

All my other Windows applications have a menu bar in black when in dark mode:

The XY menu bar isn't compatible with dark mode.

However, you can disable the menu bar and instead use the corresponding toolbar buttons, which have the same functionality. I myself only find a few of the menu items regularly useful, so the rest of them I have in a drop-down list.

On-Left Click

Code: Select all

I don't display all those menu buttons either, but as I found out recently, you don't really need a separate CTB button to display them, since they're all available when you right click any of those toolbar menu buttons (e.g., Edit, View, File, etc.) ...so if you're short on horizontal space...

I tried using the right-click option with the 'Show Menu Bar' button during the first week we got the buttons, but I kept forgetting to do it and was never able to get myself into the habit. The little arrow is the visual I need to remind me that there's more options to pick from.

I've been trying to fill my toolbar since I started here, but I'm spoiled by our amazing popupnested() menus, which work great to have just about any feature only a couple key-strokes away :biggrin: I have a couple menus like this, one for right-click type options and another for navigation.

Thank you I now understand why it is still white. I will then disable it and use the toolbar buttons instead to have a real dark mode.

@WirlyWirly
Would you mind to share the "XYplorer Check Update" icon (the one with the 2 blue arrowed hemispheres)?
