Customizing the right-click menu
Customizing the right-click menu
I'm a new user and LOVE the product. I have yet to plow through the documentation and was hoping to get an answer to pressing one how-to question. I'd like to add an application (my virus scanner) to XYPlorer's right-click menu that I have with the Windows Explorer right-click menu. I can scan the file when I right-click on a file. Thanks in advance for any help and I promise not to make these types of questions a habit ;-)
Re: Customizing the right-click menu
So you are saying your virus scanner is already visible in the Explorer context menu? if that is the case you should just be able to enable the below option and it will become visible in XY (dependent on virus scanner product, which you haven't named)
Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Show the 64-bit context menu

Re: Customizing the right-click menu
I enabled that option and restarted XYPlorer, but it doesn't show up. Attached is a screenshot of XYplorer and the Windows Explorer.

Re: Customizing the right-click menu
Some Virus scanners only show their context menu entries if invoked from Explorer.
You can test this by renaming XYplorer.exe to Explorer.exe and see if that changes the behaviour.

Re: Customizing the right-click menu
Unless your AntiVirus provides a command line scanner (which a lot don't), if it does then you could make a custom context menu entry, otherwise you may be out of luck.

That works?! Interesting! Did you try that once successfully?

Some time ago I had Bitdefender which is one of this misbehaving tools.
It worked prefectly after changing any file managers exe file to Explorer.exe

Cool.
PS: I wonder what else suddenly changes when you call your app Explorer.exe

Re: Customizing the right-click menu
Nothing special happens for normal usage.
I made this in the past with Total Commander, Free Commander and Real Commander.

Re: Customizing the right-click menu
I renamed XYPlorer.exe to Explorer and ran it. The anti-virus option did not show up. Thanks for the thoughts. It is not the end of the world to have to run the Windows Explorer on the occasion where I install a new program.

Re: Customizing the right-click menu
Sadly renaming the file didn't work for me either. I sure wish it did.
Re: Customizing the right-click menu
You could certainly set up a Custom File Association (CFA) as seen in the screenshot below.
This would then be just an extra click away.
