Re: Preview problems
1) Windows Media Player does not support auto-play AFAIK. But when you preview on the Preview Tab (instead of the Preview Pane) you should get auto-play for videos.
2) The recent beta (v21.70.0106 ) fixes a bug that might explain your video preview problems. You can download it here from the forum.

Re: Preview problems
In my system VLC is set as default Video player.
It doesn't need any codec packages and works fine for formats like mp4 and flv
In XY none of the formats are working, only a static frame is shown.
The formats are all configured in the Preview Video setiings.

Re: Preview problems
If VLC does not install system wide preview handlers (codecs) then other apps cannot profit from its power.

Re: Preview problems
The newest beta did not fixed my problem. I don't quite understand the root of that particular issue because sometimes it's working, some other times it's not. That is without considering the weird workaround by opening 2 XYplorer with video previews.admin wrote: ↑02 May 2021 18:52 1) Windows Media Player does not support auto-play AFAIK. Re: Preview problems
As regards the ghosting effect: what video card do you have and are you running the latest stable driver for it?StarPotato wrote: ↑02 May 2021 21:29No, I tried with a lots of videos (from a pool of thousands), some from years ago, some recent, some freshly converted to mp4.
The only consistency between test is the ghosting effect on the preview pane or preview tab.
Re: Preview problems
I had the same problems as you before.StarPotato wrote: ↑02 May 2021 17:51 For completeness, if Windows Media Player is set to default, the preview is showing and playing but NOT auto-playing.
I tried with multiple players as default and only Windows Player is working fine.
Since I installed K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1612_Basic XY is playing videos just fine.
My default video player is still set to VLC.
So my status is:
- The Windows media player can play almost anything,
- XYplorer plays all sort of formats (some not with autoplay but thats normal)
- I get VLC when I double click video files.

Re: Preview problems
I'm using the latest BETA version (found on the forum) v21.70.0106 de XYplorer and I'm using K-lite Codec16.1.2 Basic
I have a GTX 1070 running the latest drivers and my BIOS is up to date.
I don't think this is a hardware issue (i7 CPU and 32 GB of RAM)
I though it could be because I have 2 very large widescreens taxing too heavily my hardware, so I pluged-in my old 1920x1080 monitors, no positive feedback.
During my last attempt to diagnose my problem, I reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch, running the latest updates and all, and before reinstalling all my programs I tested XYplorer video preview with K-Lite Codec with no positive feedback.
The problem don't come from the video files as I tested about thousands of video files (I'm sorting a lots a video footage).
As I said previously, I can run the video previews on a VM (I'm currently running XYplorer from a VM to sort my files) and it works perfectly fine on my other computer.

Re: Preview problems
You are using a completely fresh installation without any former settings of XY in that VM?As I said previously, I can run the video previews on a VM (I'm currently running XYplorer from a VM to sort my files) and it works perfectly fine on my other computer.
What you've written before that you tried
fresh;
and it's working fine on your normal installation but not when you uninstall XY and reinstall it. To me that sounds like it is still using your old settings, otherwise both versions would behave identical...One of my scripts helped you out? Please donate via Paypal

I just tested the fresh trick (just to be sure) and it doesn't work.
The only thing working is if I run a video preview on a XYplorer instance in the background and I work on another one instance (with or without "fresh;")
So you are totally right, both versions behave in an identical manners, ghosting (when moving the edges of the XY window) or just blank outline
Re: Preview problems
This is all due to the Nvidia video drivers. The latest version with which there are no problems with video preview is 391.35. And developer XYplorer is in no hurry to solve this problem.

Re: Preview problems
I (still) don't get why you expect the XY developer to solve a problem that you clearly describe as having been introduced by a NVIDIA driver update?
