XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
Hello
XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer first time opening.
I have whitelisted it in Malwarebytes and Webroot and I am wondering if others have the same issue.
I sometimes have to wait several seconds for the folder to open where I double click or highlight the folder and hit the Enter key to have it open. It usually opens 2 instances at that point. This has happened over the many versions.
It opens right away afterward for any folders. Then sometime later it will delay the opening.
Is it Malwarebytes and Webroot for XYplorer. Or is it the software scanning the contents? (example mp4 music / video files)

Opened a folder on my Desktop then added the code: text get("LoadTimes"); and pressed the Enter key.
Does XYployer look over all drives when it opens a folder?
I have a 2nd internal hard drive and a external hard drive for backup.

And your tabs are not pointing to these two hdds?
Hold CTRL while clicking on Menu - Help - Various Information
There are more suggestions to gain speedups.
E.g.: Untick Configuration | General | Tree and List | Tree | Remember state of tree

Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
I use webroot and malwarebytes and have whitelisted the program.
I do not have Microsoft Security Essentials and have Windows Defender turned off.
I open a folder from the desktop that has the files. The folders are not a shortcut to the other hard drives.
On the 2 pane window the left side does list all the drives.

Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
Thanks, I will have to wait and see if this is the fix. As mentioned before the slowness will go away then come back at a later time.
I restart my pc only once a week.

Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
XYplorer does hesitate at times to open for a few seconds. I wonder if it is the malwarebytes and webroot programs still scanning even though xyplorer is whitelisted in both.
Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
"From time to time"
Both of these drives (I + J) are never send to sleep (by your Operating System) so that XY needs to wake them up because of your "Computer" entry in the second pane?

Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
I got the same general issue but in another setting:
I have one connected network drive on another machine. If that other machine is running, XY starts relatively quickly. However, if that other machine is not running and the connected network drive not reachable, XY takes forever to start. I've "No network browsing on startup" checked and "Reconnect mapped network drives on startup" unchecked. What's that "Load Other Pane" entry?

Menu - Panes - [x] Dual Pane.
Does any tab on any of the two panes point to any non-available location?
And make sure that Configuration | General | Tree and List | Tree | [ ] Check existence of subfolders in tree

Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer
Aha, my Dual Pane view shows that one connected network drive. If that is not reachable, the start of XY will take forever. Once, I replaced the connected network drive in one of the two panes with a local folder, XY starts quickly.
