Crashing Regularly

Post by mikeshick »

Can anyone lend some help why XYplorer crashes fairly regularly, usually once per day or more?

Also, when this occurs, I usually need to go a tap minimize tree. Is there a way to default to minimize tree?

Thanks,

Just explain as thorough as possible when it crashes, what are you (or XYplorer) doing at that moment?

Mh?

Maybe: View - Mini Tree - [x] Mini Tree
+ View - [x] Lock Tree

Thanks. I put lock tree on and I'll see how it works.

I'm simply browsing to new folders when it crashes, every time.

What do you mean by crash? Just to be sure. Some folks say "crash" when they see an error message...

I mean, the program freezes, then shuts down. When it reopens, my minimize tree is off, and primary folders shows all sub-folders. Then when I mini tree again, I often have to go to list management and revise what's there.

The whole process is a arrrrrrr....pain.

Go to Tools | List Management | Mini Tree... and copy the whole tree to a post here (if that is okay data-wise). Maybe the problem becomes visible.

Without any error message at all?

Enter fresh; into the addressbar and hit the enter key.
Does it work with that instance?

After setting the options, save your settings!

I'm not sure I have the chance to type fresh;

When it freezes, I get no second chance to enter anything. The freeze and crash happen at the same instance without ability to do anything at all.

Directly after starting XY. Then work with this fresh instance and tell us if it has the same problem as your normal (fully configured) one...

I don't see anything suspicious.

The crash happens exactly after you turn on the Mini Tree? How do you do that? By left-clicking the "Mini Tree" toolbar button?

He said the crashes happen when
I'm simply browsing to new folders when it crashes, every time.
He lost the tree because the didn't save the settings after turning on the lock tree option (afterwards: the crash when navigating to a folder -> old settings after restarting)

OK, I was on the wrong track.

I would like to see a complete screenshot of the app right before the fatal click.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish that. I would have to video my screen all day. Once it crashes, it's only about 2 seconds before program shuts down.

I did use lock for a little, but if I understand that toggle, It stops any new changes from showing up automatically, which isn't ideal for. Me. I do save settings now.

With save settings, the mini tree still vacillates between mini to full. I can't wrap my head around why or when this occurs.

Not sure if I'm missing another setting.
