This isn't a feature I used a lot, however it was useful.
Going through my backups, I see that this was still around in v9.90 all the way up through v15.#, as it disappears in the v16 releases somewhere.
I searched through the "New Beta" topic, and didn't see anything mentioning it.
Searching the forum, I only saw this discussion on UTF8, Unicode support and so on: viewtopic.php?t=13186
Was this removal intentional? Thanks!

Re: Find Files - Contents - "Match Unicode" - gone?
It happened here:
Nobody seemed to use it when it was there, and nobody seemed to miss it when it was gone.
What are you trying to do?
Code: Select all
v16.50.0215 - 2016-04-10 20:57
- Find Files | Contents: Removed "Match wide strings". It was more confusing
than useful.
v16.50.0212 - 2016-04-10 13:14
* Find Files | Contents: Renamed "Match unicode" to "Match wide strings".
More correct, less confusing.
What are you trying to do?

Eh...search for Unicode-content in files. (Actually the search is fine - but I can't enter the content using kbd (it only shows as "?", I had to paste via clipboard.) We discussed that in the thread that I linked to

But that was not the functionality of "Match unicode"/"Match wide strings".
Anyway, Unicode typing will work alright in the .NET edition, so we all just have to wait...

Re: Find Files - Contents - "Match Unicode" - gone?
Much like MBass, I have applications that encode text strings into unicode. I don't know whiles files the strings are saved into (several thousand of them), so I had used it in the past to identify which files I needed to work on.admin wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020 11:44 It happened here:Nobody seemed to use it when it was there, and nobody seemed to miss it when it was gone.Code: Select all

Still not sure what you mean. Can you give me a file that contains a string that XY cannot find?
