Files being listed twice in file listing, probably after sleep

Post by geoffyates »

Version 20.40.0000

I have found on a number of occasions that each file in the file listing is listed twice! I have not had much opportunity to investigate this but it seems to come about after the computer has gone to sleep and then woken up again. Also I think that there has also been two panes in use and that the issue has been in the lower pane but not sure on that and even if that is correct there is nothing to say that the issue is confined to those circumstances. Pressing the [F5] (refresh) key solves the problem, however if the computer is allowed to sleep and then woken up again the problem can return to the same listing in the same pane.

I have not tried the correct operation of file associations in those circumstances.

Win 7 Pro 64 bit
Optiplex 755
2 X 3 Ghz
8 Gb

Cannot reproduce it with v20.50.0109.

When it happens again, please make a screenshot of the whole XYplorer window. That might tell us something about the circumstances.

Just a quick update:

20.50.0300

Issue seems to affect 'Search Results' listing (only?).

Sometimes the same file is repeated THREE times! Increased from one to two after one sleep/wake, and then increased from two to three after another sleep/wake. But did not increase from three to four after another sleep/wake.

May need computer to go to sleep 'naturally' (after a period of inactivity) for this to happen?

Two panes active. Lower pane affected.

Cannot give screen grab as you asked to protect privacy. Will try and devise 'experiment' that is safe to screen grab and post if I get time.

Thanks

I am trying the latest version. Upon waking after a long sleep I got the attached message box.

An optical drive that had a disk in had had the disk removed. It seems that XY can normally deal with that alright though.

The duplication of file names in the listing did not occur this time, although that might be intermittent.

OBTW Your website (what's new) states that 20.70.0000 'This Is A BIG Maintenance Release'. However clicking on 'Further details of this release...' only leads to a screen capture of the program. There are no further details that I can see.

Here's some more...

Drive E: had no disk.

I inserted a CD in the optical drive E:.

Somewhere around this point I got this message:
2020-02-06_213711.jpg
2020-02-06_213711.jpg (96.92 KiB) Viewed 1056 times
It was not immediately recognised by XY so I tried tabbing over to My Documents intending to tab back to E:

I then got the message shown below. But there is no such path in existence!

I tabbed back to E:

When I double clicked to play one of the music tracks in the listing I got this message.
2020-02-06_214328.jpg
2020-02-06_214328.jpg (42.08 KiB) Viewed 1056 times
I got around this by choosing Show 64 bit context menu and then an option from there.

Whilst the music was playing I tried to drag the divider between the tree listing and the file listing rightwards. I then got this error message:
2020-02-06_215854.jpg
2020-02-06_215854.jpg (97.96 KiB) Viewed 1056 times
Subsequent attempts to drag the divider kept giving more error messages...

Something is deeply going wrong. I would reboot Windows. This almost always fixes these kind of things.

Yes, those release notes are not telling much. That's because it's many minor things. I'll add a line to make that clearer.
