Disable "Cycle tabs in recently used order".

Okay, how does it deviate from expectation?

Hmmm... errr... by not working as expected at all?

I mean... after closing current, I always had the left tab activated

Forget it. Upgrading to .0523 fixed the problem. Thanks.

Problem still happens.

Using "show x close buttons on all tabs on hover"...
-when closing the far right tab, the 1st one is activated instead of the left neighbor.
-when closing a paperfolder.

Closing with default CTRL+W doesn't produce the error.

I couldn't find the other topic about that but still applicable here.

Will the issue with not activating the last used tab ever be fixed in XY?
The option Activate left tab on closing current is turned off. I always expect when I close a tab to see activated the last active tab, just like in old Firefox or other programs that keep track of tabs activations and when I close tabs I always get the previously (relative to the closed tab) active tab selected.
This has never worked in XY although I had arguments (not only me) about this many times during the years.
I tried to get used to that not working, given all other advantages of XY over other file managers but... once in a while I collect enough frustration to raise the topic again and again.
Do I miss some combination of options? The first 4 checkbox options in Settings - Tabs, are disabled. I don't want to cycle through tabs in RUO (recently used order), just like I use it in Firefox - Ctrl+(Shift)+Tab cycles linearly but when I close tabs, last used is selected (with an addon).
If not possible or not in a roadmap, just let us know not to expect it ;) .

It appears to work when you tick both:
Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Activate left tab on closing current
Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Cycle tabs in recently used order

Can you confirm?

----------------------------------------------

Whatever, I will change these options. I plan to add the following dropdowns in Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs:

Code: Select all

Open new tab - Next to the current tab
                            - At the end

On closing the current tab - Activate the last used tab
                            - Activate the right tab
                            - Activate the left tab
And, of course, this will independent of "Cycle tabs in recently used order".

I think that should make everybody happy. Is the wording okay?

The wording should work. Though you might consider "adjacent left" or "adjacent right" so there's no confusion to leftmost and rightmost tab.

I just finished doing it with "left" and "right", so let's see if it works in this simple way.

I'm glad with the new logical layout. This was indeed it bit murky before, so not only Tedy will be happy with the next version. Also me. :)

Good morning,
Thank you for these options. Is it possible to add an option to the on-close dropdown for "Activate Default Tab" or "Left-most"/"Right-most" ? Here is an older request from me - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19933&p=166041#p166041.

In my layout, Default Tab is far left and any search result tab opens on the far right. When I close the Search (or any tab), the tab to the left is activated (Active the Left Tab on close option is set for me). I think the requested options above would round-out the tab selection possibilities.

Okay, I can add "Activate Default Tab". What should it do if there is no default tab?

If no default tab is set, maybe it could just default to whatever you consider the "out of the box" default setting.

Updated, set the new option for Default Tab and tested it out - works perfectly - thank you for adding this.
