Send to Mail Recipient not Working
Since few weeks, if I right click on files and select Send to -> Mail Recipient, nothing happens. If I use windows explorer it works normally and opens a new message in outlook. I have windows 10/64, office 365/64 and XYPlorer 19.50.01 with Lifetime Licence. Thanks in advance for any help and apologies if I choose the wrong board to report this issue.

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
Thanks for the report, and thanks for mentioning "windows 10". Alas, this is surely a problem within the bowels of that OS. No chance for me: "Send to Mail Recipient" goes directly from OS-owned menu to OS functions.

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
Win 10 can't be the only factor here as the steps described above work perfectly well with my setup, Office/Outlook 2013 32bit (rest see sig) and I end up with a new mail window opened with the selected file attached to it.

Okay.
Still the other part of what I said is true: Can't do anything about it.

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
Have you tried it from both the 32bit and 64bit context menu?, You could also try resetting the Default Apps in Windows settings for Mail, another thing you could try is searching your computer for "fixmapi.exe" and run it with Outlook closed if you find it.
Also if you are interested in an alternative, since you are using Outlook you could just use portable file associations to add files to an email:
https://www.xyplorer.com/tour.php?page=pom
and a small example PFA entry (might need some tweaking by you, I don't have Outlook installed to test):
I am also not sure if it works for multi-file selection on newer versions of Outlook though, but should definitely work on single items at least, and if multi file selection is common occurrence for you then you could also script it to add the selected files to a zip file first and then send that 1 zip file via PFA.

Code: Select all

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
Guys,
Thank you for the support.
Actually I cannot see the line "use 64bit context menu" in my context menu any longer. But I remember it was there some time ago.
Nothing you suggested worked so far. I will use a workaround.
Regards

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
I found something new. If you run outlook as administrator. the "send to mail recipient" works. It has something to do with the Programmatic Access settings in Outlook Trust Centre.
Obviously MS gives the privilege of calling Outlook from the context menu of Windows Explorer regardless of the Trust Centre settings. But the same is not valid with third party apps. Which could make sense. But it is annoying.

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
So the obvious next question is whether you run XY as admin?
The "Show 64-bit context menu" only shows if you haven't set it to be your permanent choice.

Re: Send to Mail Recipient not Working
I'm using Betterbird which is a version of Mozilla Thunderbird and had the same problem with Send To Mail Recipient not working from XYplorer. I thought it was a Windows 10 problem but then found that it works fine from Windows Explorer. It also works fine from my PDF program. So, using some of the advice from previous posts I changed Betterbird and XYplorer to both run as Adminstrator. Once I did that the Send To Mail works perfectly!
