No, I have not. I'll do that later...

MTP is the protocol that is supposed to make this work, but it sucks.

When connecting your phone, is there a choice to connect it as USB storage, not as media device? I mean switches on the phone.

Asking me? Well, on my phone I'm offered such choices when I plug it into USB.

No, not you. I asked hari3 if he had such choices.
By the way when connecting as MTP device my phone isn't recognized by XY at all. That doesn't matter to me because I never use MTP connection.

I noted that the auto-refresh does not work here since 19.10.0200 (15-Aug-2018), currently looking for the cause of it...

I suppose you see the phone after a restart of XY.

Whoops, this explains it:

Code: Select all

+ Portable Devices: Added tweak WatchDevices, factory default is 1 (= ON).
It controls whether XYplorer reacts on messages sent out by Windows when
USB devices or Portable Devices are plugged in or out. On some Windows 10
systems there seems to be an abundance of such messages leading to
frequent (mostly unnecessary) refreshes of the tree. You can stop this now
      by tweaking:
        WatchDevices=0
PS: No, the real reason was this:

Code: Select all

v19.10.0105 - 2018-08-12 17:20
    * Tree: Too many unnecessary radical refresh events (e.g. when USB printer
was turned on/off). Reduced that to a reasonable amount.

It depends on phone model and on installed OS. One of my gf's phones also connects only as media MTP device and even Windows explorer cannot delete files there, only in-built file manager. That's why I asked about possibility to choose how to connect.
P.S. Did you try to look in the config: Treat portable devices as read-only (Menus, Mouse, Safety - Safety Belts)?

Why not using wireless? I've never used wired USB to transfer files to/from my phone(s).
Yes, 6-7MB/s is not much but I prefer spending 1 min transferring my photos instead of losing time searching for cable, switching modes on the phone, waiting the PC to identify and prepare the USB device and waiting 20 sec transferring files. Sure, I'm not spending day and night transferring files with phone.
