Scrolling behavior when thumbnails are shown

Post by pixelsearch »

Hi all,
Imagine you choose big thumbnails in the Views and what you see on your monitor are 6 totally visible thumbnails, let's name them like this :
* Thumbnails 1-2-3 on 1st line
* Thumbnails 4-5-6 on 2nd line
* Below, you got thumbnails 7-8-9 half shown, waiting to be totally displayed after scrolling.

Now what do you expect if you key "page down" or clic the scroll bar ?
=> Other programs would do this : thumbnails from 1 to 6 would totally disappear, then thumbnails 7-8-9 would be on 1st line, thumbnails 10-11-12 totally visible on 2nd line, 13-14-15 half shown
=> XYplorer behaves differently : thumbnails 4-5-6 are now on 1st line, 7-8-9 on 2nd line etc...
Which means your scrolling always shows you twice one line of thumbnails, 1st time on 2nd line, 2nd time on 1st line.
It seems like XYplorer always searches the last visible line of thumbnails to place it on 1st line after scrolling, instead of searching the 1st line of "non totally" visible (or totally hidden) thumbnails.

Thanks for reading. Don't know if I should place this post in bugs or wishes :)

I confirm that for keys "page down" and "page up", but clicking the scroll bar seems to work as expected, or?

Yes, I can confirm that as well with 240x240 thumbnails with 4 complete rows or lines of thumbnails displayed. One press of page down displays the the original 2nd row on top whereas scrolling with the wheel shows row/line 5 on top as it should. I have my scroll wheel set to do a page at a time which it seems to be doing for thumbnails. Whereas the actual page down is only doing a row or line at a time.

Hi Don, I'm still getting just one row/line advancement with page down on the very first use of page down in thumbnail view. On subsequent uses of page down, it appears to be correct like the scroll down. I tried this a number of times making sure I was fully up by using the home key.

I tried it again in another folder with 240x240 thumbs with the same result. I never use Pg Up or Pg Dn when viewing thumbnails anyway. That's why I never picked up on it. We'll see what others report. Thanks.

At my place the same as at klownboy's (=unexpected only at PgDn when on top of the list).

Also: Is it normal that, after touching only the list scroll bar, the list does not get focus?

Can't see anything wrong here.

And, yes, it's normal. At least it's the same in File Explorer.
