Please use the very same base for the normal and narrow tree regarding the TreePaddingLeft. Keep the This PC node always in the same place and when the narrow tree is clicked or not, you have to shrink or expand the place only on the right side. Let me show my trees with TreePaddingLeft set to 0.

Thanks, now TPT looks ok in both state. Especially thanks for making the last node highlight smaller in narrow tree, this way it doesn't touch the folder icon. (Maybe you should check if 23 is not too high as a default value now that you corrected the left placement of the tree. On my computers now 23 looks way too "airy". On my home computer I decided to set even a negative TreePaddingLeft value. :D )

It still says "23" in the tweak comment, but it's actually 4. You are right, I will shave off 2 pixels. And I will make it so that the value by default is 0 (zero).

While the topic is hot, why not apply the same color to ToolbarBackColor - which is a way deep, easily forgotten possible config?

The question is rather: why?

...easier visual cohesion, for the ones who use those settings and a little hint on hidden possibilities for the ones who don't but will certainly benefit out of them once they know about...

To me it looks like everything's drowning in liquid tar...

I really think the Toolbar should stay apart from the coloring business.

You should consider that, besides the visual hinting for multi-instances, coloring may add for great visual relaxation for the ones who need a rest while hours in a row in front of a computer...

Has something been done to solve this?

I just tried with the latest beta (19.20.0006) and this is the result:

Could we come back to a continuous snake?

By the way, wouldn't it make more sense to display the snake on the dotted line - only when expansion icons aren't displayed (that would not look good when expansion icons are shown IMO) :

Yes, that would make sense. But there can't be more than 3 people in the world that hide the expansion icons, so that's not on the top of my list...
