Shortcut or script commands for catalog command

I often use the "Insert new catalog item -> current tab location" command from the catalog menu, but its a real pain when using frequently you have to right click on the category, then its two menus deep. Are there shortcuts or script functions for catalog commands in the future?

Just curious is there was any new hidden script commands that might help me achieve this. Perhaps adding current tab or all tabs in pane to a specified category of the catalog.
