The file case is only synced when the file is actually overwritten.

Right. So XYplorer still cannot be used to synchronize filename case when only the case is different. This is why I was earlier suggesting an option 'Treat filename case as significant'.

And right now the foldername case is synchronized even when the folders are identical. So folders and files are treated in a different way.

Yes, they are treated differently because they are different. Folders are not overwritten in the way files are overwritten.

So, there is still a place for your tool... :)

It's so funny: for files and folders that are identical in every way except for uppercase/lowercase:

there's software called Beyond Compare that can compare filenames but it cannot compare foldernames, while XYplorer can synchronize the foldernames but not the filenames.

These 2 softwares need to have a baby. :titter:

Technically it would not be a problem. It would make things a notable bit slower though. So I would make it optional.

But is there a demand? You are the only one so far...

PS: Made some bench marking: Sync caps files costs speed: takes 25% longer.

Is it worth it?

A solution could be to have it only (and optionally) in SC Sync...

Very nice work in 18.40.0110.

I think any slight hit to performance is ok as long as one can feel certain that the destination is now a 100% match of the source.

XYplorer can now do what most dedicated sync programs cannot do.

The only cherry on the cake missing now is that the reports (after Preview and after the real thing) do not show the list of files and folders that were simply renamed. The renaming happens in the dark. :ninja:

Very nice. It is now a very comprehensive one-way sync.

Is there any plan to add versioning. If yes, options I did like to see
-Keep x revisions
-keep revisions for x days
-location to store the revisions

Since Windows 8.x there is an inbuild backup and versioning system called File History.
