I'm just using the Technical Preview to write this message. After only some minutes it looks (yeah, it's flat too!) and feels good so far.

Good: transparent - and afaik pretty fair - privacy policy
And the best: it's Jon von Tetzchner behind the startup

I'm pretty sure, once the 1st stable release is out, FF will become my backup browser. Ortherwise, I may wait until the business model will become a bit clearer.

Personally, I'll wait for the good old Opera new Vivaldi Mail (hopefully it won't be tied to a Vivaldi account (and hopefully it will get a huge upgrade))

I haven't been having a private need for a mail client since I've started to use web mailer(s) more then 18 years ago. But I know, that much more than I expected were loving the good old opera for exactly this. I just really, really hope they don't mess with the user base's privacy concerns (business model!).

But just having one more competitor is worth it alone!

long time since 7.x i was an Opera fan. after v.12 it became garbage and i passed to Maxthon. it stoped developing and next one was Firefox. but here this day come - today one of its reliable addons destroyed all my tabs(~100) and though it restored them after numerous crushes(FF just can't work with no crash here and there) it just said that last session was stored 5 month ago!!! no more to this browser too.
i'd wish Don to develop own browser!!

Latest beta here: http://forum.maxthon.com/index.php/foru ... and-betas/ However, after v4.4.1.5000, it became garbage (Night Mode, Addressbar, Adblock Plus get worse). Anyway, v4.4.1.5000 is still very good.

With the beta candidate Snapshot 1.0.303.32 (relased 2015-Oct-25) I've made the switch.

Though still having some bugs, it is stable enough. And though far from having everything inbuild I want it to have, the following extensions generate a feature-sufficient package for me:

- Context Menu Search
- Disable HTML5 Autoplay
- FormBox
- µMatrix
- SimpleTabOrder
- SmoothScroll
- Stylish
- Vanilla Cookie Manager


From now on Firefox will be my backup browser.

only because i searched a lot with no result and as i know very intelligent people inhabit this forum, i post this question: how to disable one-key-shortcuts in Firefox??
often i have a situation when site probably didn't load enough, i clicked on search field and start typing, and everything what i thought i was typing was interpreted by FF as commands, leading to mess. does anybody know how to disable this one-letter-shortcuts, so only ordinary with Ctrl+ Shift+ were left to function?

Firefox has by default no single english letter shortcuts (apart from special cases like the pdf viewer).
So you're probably using an addon...

@eil, You have truly great luck! Your problem will probably solve itself! That addon will probably not work after Firefox 58! (Along with major majority of all amazing, indispensable advanced addons.)

thank you both for tips! though i can't figure out which addon may cause this out of bunch i use.. the most unpleasant here is that i checked numerous addons for editing whatever possible shortkeys in FF and none showed one-letter ones.
i don't update right-away so will stick with FF for some time, anyways there is almost no alternatives.

It seems that we currently live in times in which one has to use several browsers, depending on the current purpose/target site. At least I have to.

Most of the time I use Otter (in portable mode, currently 0.9.91, weekly 182 with WebKit Backend 602.1): https://www.otter-browser.org/ Since some weeks it is my default browser. One gets used to problems quickly (if at all possible)... But it is definitely a work in progress.

When this does not work, I use K-Meleon (75.0 from the year 2015), also in portable mode: http://kmeleonbrowser.org

For RSS I use the old nice Opera 12.18, portable version.

I had great hopes for Vivaldi, but in the end regard it a crap (enormous footprint and miserable file handling, so that one can forget about portable mode).

About other possibilities I am not going to loose time and words here.

However, your mileage may vary tremendously, depending on your needs.

BTW, not only that I do not use Chrome & co, I even do not use Google search (and not even Qwant and DuckDuckGo any more). My search engine is - most of the time - metager: https://metager.de/en
