Is this a bug?

Hi, I'm a newbie .. so I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.

I have labels applied to files, and have backed up the files to a new directory (with the configuration option "Copy tags on backup operations" checked).

The tag database shows the tags have been copied and applied:

But in the file list and tag tab of that folder, the labels do not appear:

Am I doing something wrong? Is it because this is a network drive?

Welcome to the forum

Go to the real network path and you'll see that the label is shown
\\ZOMBIE\home\Camera Uploads Backup

You're using a shortcut here by mapping \\ZOMBIE\home
to a drive letter

I wouldn't call this is a bug by itself... Imagine you have 500k items
tagged / labelled on e.g. drive D:. But if this was only a network path
mapped to a drive letter you'd expect XY to be able to resolve every
path on e.g. the belonging server \\server if some part of the path
matches the structure for all tagged / labelled items on every
drive letter in the database (because all of them could (have been) a mapped
drive letter)

If you're only accessing the server via the H: drive letter you could just exit
XY and replace all occurrences of

Code: Select all

\\ZOMBIE\home\

with

Code: Select all

H:\

in XY's tag.dat file (once)
and ofc backup files to the drive letter afterwards, not to the network server's
path...

Highend, Thank you - especially for the tip about search/replace of tag.dat. That worked great. I just have to remember to backup to drive letters.

The more I work with XYplorer, the more I'm falling in love with it. It's an amazing product.
