XYplorer crashes for video preview
with the preview panel shown, whenever a video is clicked, XYplorer simply crashed.
I had tried to unchecked the preview video checkbox in the settings but still it is the same.
I am using the latest version of XYplorer 17.7 already

Re: XYplorer crashes for video preview
I have a similar problem: when navigating to a particular folder, while starting to show the preview images, XYplorer crashes. The issue came up with the most recent version (17.70.0200) and it was working fine before with that same folder.
Unfortunately, that folder has hundreds of video files in different formats, so it's hard to tell which one is responsible.
Other folders, also with mixed formats, work fine.

Move 50% to a different (empty) folder. Does is still crash?
If not, do it with the other folder.
Always move 50% to the next folder
and only in a few tries you know which file it is

Re: XYplorer crashes for video preview
Have no idea if this is relevant to anyone's situation, but if you are running Win10 with this weeks update, be aware (this text is from the K-Lite Codecs web site):
Solution for crashing players after latest Windows 10 update (KB4013429)
Wednesday March 15th 2017
This Windows update contains a new version of the file CompPkgSup.dll which has a bug that can cause applications to crash. It only happens when an application uses the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder (msmpeg2vdec.dll) on systems where MPEG-2 is activated in that decoder. That is either when you installed the DVD Player app from Microsoft, or if you upgraded from Windows 7.
Solution #1:
Windows Settings app > Update & Security > Update History > Uninstall updates > Uninstall KB4013429
Solution #2 (untested):
Remove the DVD Player app
Solution #3 (for MPC-HC only):
MPC-HC options > External Filters > Add Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder and set it as blocked
Solution #4:
Codec Tweak Tool > MS Codec Tweaks > Disable Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder
(Note: this may break video playback in certain apps, read the help for more details)

Can confirm Solution #1 works , but Windows Update re-installs KB4013429 soon afterwards .m48tx wrote: Solution #1:

Re: XYplorer crashes for video preview
I had the same problem and was about to report it today. Running the mkv or mp4 files in MPC-HC worked fine but in XY preview the video would crash XY. I was wondering why my session for guitar videos in Session Manager kept crashing XY. Anyway, I removed KB4013429 and it no longer crashes. I also added and then blocked the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder in MPC-HC options though maybe it was unnecessary after removing the KB. Thanks m48TX.

K-Lite Codec Pack added a 5th solution: http://www.codecguide.com/
They put together a package that will install an older dll file that works. As always, use caution.

Re: XYplorer crashes for video preview
M$ has released Win10 update (KB4015438) to fix video crash. FYI.

Don, just glad you did not expend energy chasing down this rabbit hole. Ugh.

Don, the phrase you hear more often is, "thanks for having my back".
