Tip: Just paste this line into the Address Bar and press Enter:

Code: Select all

text get("loadtimes");
BTW, my XY usually loads in around 420 msecs. And I have a big mini tree (sic), many tabs, and a fat catalog.

Mainboard: ASUS B85M-G (C2)
Prozessor: Intel Core i5-4570
RAM: 8GB-Kit DDR3, 1333 MHz (Dual Channel RAM)
Grafik-Controller: Intel HD Graphics 4600 (On-Chip)
Festplatte: 500GB SATA, 7200 rpm (ST500DM002 = Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 500GB, SATA 6Gb/s)

Could you also show the 4 lines at the bottom of that list?

MaxiTree: Rows=909, Nodes=909, Expanded=35
Remember Tree State: Yes (10 stored paths)
Check Existence of Subfolders in Tree: Yes
Pane 1: Items=15/15, Pane 2: Items=7/7, Catalog: Items=4

Code: Select all

1,223 ms: 4,097 ms - Load Maxi
...
Tree MaxiTree: Rows=909
Well, 909 rows is not much, would take around 250 ms on my machine.
But, if there are some unavailable network folder among those rows, it can take longer.

For starters I suggest you untick this:
Configuration | Tree and List | Tree | Remember state of tree

There is an unavailable folder, as my desktop and my laptop are connected in a network via LAN, but the laptop is switched off most of the time. How can XYplorer's load time be shortened under the circumstances? Anything under 2 secs would be acceptable.

So that's an UNC path, or a mapped drive?

@admin

I am not sure I know the difference, but take a look at how XYplorer lists those inaccessible drives:

These are mapped network drives.

1) Could you check the setting of this: Configuration | Startup & Exit | Reconnect mapped network drives on startup
whatever it is, does it make a difference (on the next start) when you change it?

2) Untick this: Configuration | Tree and List | Tree | Remember state of tree

3) Were those mapped drives expanded when you last closed XYplorer? Was the last tree location on one of these drives?

ОК, results:

1) Could you check the setting of this: Configuration | Startup & Exit | Reconnect mapped network drives on startup
whatever it is, does it make a difference (on the next start) when you change it? It does not seem to affect the speed. But interestingly, if the option is checked, then the first load takes 4+ secs and the subsequent loads seem to take much less.

2) Untick this: Configuration | Tree and List | Tree | Remember state of tree
I guess this one made a difference:

Here is another one that could solve it for you:
Configuration | Startup & Exit | No network browsing on startup

Tick it, and you might get good speed even if you re-tick this:
Configuration | Tree and List | Tree | Remember state of tree

Thanks!

Is there a way to export a global configuration file once I am happy with all the tweaks, set up the Catalog, bars, etc.? I mean a single file that then can be imported and instantly configure XYplorer to my preference?

Sure.

The complete configuration is stored in the files in <xydata> (paste this into the address bar and press enter to go there).

Copy the whole folder somewhere else, e.g. to "C:\somewhere".

Now you can load this configuration into your XYplorer.exe via command line like this:

Code: Select all

E:\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe /ini=C:\somewhere\
This is just one way. Look here for more ideas:

I must be doing something wrong, but I am not sure what. I have pasted the following in the address bar:

C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe /ini=D:\PAVEL\04 My Configs\XYplorer

...and when I press Enter, I get the following error:
error.jpg
error.jpg (43.82 KiB) Viewed 1827 times
Please, note that the syntax in the error message is different from what I am posting in the address bar. What is amiss?

Best regards,

That one was meant for the command line , not for the Address Bar. You can use it when starting XY from a shortcut or via Run dialog.

Actually, thinking about it, I might be able to improve this... give me some hours... :maf:
