Dual Pane: Sync Select Variation Request

Post by pnoah »

I wonder if there might be a smooth way of sync-selecting a same named item in the second inactive pane by just one shortcut (without additional mouseclicks).

Right now the procedure I follow is to select an item (folder) in the active pane, switch to the inactive pane, hit Ctrl+Shift+S (being my keyboard shortcut for "Sync Select...") and mouseclick the 'Select Selected' Option to sync the selection with the other formerly active pane. This strikes me as being cumbersome to say the least, so let me ask as humble as a newcomer to this community is allowed to be:
Does this have to be a feature request or may there be other probably more suitable ways (scripts) for the above mentioned workflow?

Thank you in advance

Welcome to the club.

Code: Select all

selectitems <selitems |>, , 1, , "i";
Selects all items in the inactive pane (same name + ext, path is ignored) depending on which files are selected in the active pane.
The inactive pane's first item is not scrolled into view, though... Focus switching would be necessary to do that...

There, an elegant solution within an hour.
Thank you so much! I mean it.

Let's say, I just happen to be very careful inflating someone's ego in the process :wink: ,
though I admit you deserve every praise one could possibly think of.
Thanks again, mate.

Now, my job now it seems is to look deeper into the 'abyss' of scripting/automating within this fine software as it is.

May I add one additional question?

With your very help at this point my script looks like this:

Code: Select all

selectitems <selitems |>, , 1, , "i"; focus "P2";
It selects the same item in the inactive pane and switches the focus to the second pane, simply wonderful - but ..
imagine there are hundreds if not thousands of items.
How can I navigate/scroll automatically to the selected one?

Code: Select all

    $items = <selitems |>;
    focus "P2";
    selectitems gettoken($items, 1, "|");
    sel "+0";
    selectitems $items;
