Selecting text in the address bar

I thought the idea was that Ctrl+Left/Right arrow jumped to the delimiter "/". It appears to jump to the " ". It works as expected in the address bar but not in "Go to..." or "Go to from Here...".

Well it doesn't work here but I know why...

It works with "Auto-complete path/file names" ON or OFF on the Address Bar but it has to be ON for the GoTo dialog to work. I can't work with Auto-complete on, it never finds anything I want and is more distracting than helpful.

You know that the tree has select-as-you-type (= type initial letters of a folder), don't you?

That doesn't help. Directories April, May, June... all have sub-directories 01 to 30 so if I'm in June\08 and want to go to June\05 typing 05 takes me to April.... Likewise 11, 22 don't work reliably because of the standard problem of repeated pressing of the same key. Speed searching is something I find very helpful sometimes but totally useless where the same character is repeated.
