Assign Icons to "folders"

Hi Donald,
Just paid my dues for the XYplorer Registration (Lifetime License Pro)
I had hoped to be able to assign Icons to "folders" and drives - just like
in File Explorer.
I would prefer the standard Microsoft ones but was willing to use your
system. That was my whole reason for the paid pro version.
As you can see from the attached the "Enable custom filter icons" is
greyed out - no matter what I do! It does not work.

I did a bunch of searches - including joining your XYplorer Beta Club to
post the question. (Tried some of the 'solutions' there also.)

It says I have to be active a long time before I will be allowed to post.

A second problem is that the instant color filters does NOT work
consistently.

I sure hope you have some answers or I am no better off than having the
free version.

Welcome to the club!

The standard Microsoft icons should be shown in XYplorer out of the box.

"Enable custom file icons" is greyed out only in the Free Version.

To upgrade from Free to Pro you download the trial version from the website and unlock it with your key.

I do have the pro version activated. Others there had this problem also.

I agree - but they do not display in my Pro version. That is why I was perhaps too quick to pay the upgrade fee.
You apparently do not allow attachments with posts.

Just did an new install in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer2\XYplorer.exe"

Note the "XYplorer2" it did the trial period thing (as a verification)

When I get to the Icon config screen it says "XYplorer" (which was my first Pro install)
I did create the "XYplorer" folders and files from a copy of my free version :"XYplorerFree" and then installed
the PRO version "on top."
Apparently the Pro ver does not clean the Free out.

This latest new install using the installer to set the NEW XYplorer2 program location apparently did not work either.

I just hate to remove my free version with all the lengthy configurations - there must be a better way???
If I could have the free and pro versions side by side long enough to manually update the pro -that would
work.
What are my reasonable alternatives? Are there a few files I can alter or remove?

XYplorer2?

Frankly, I don't get it. XYplorer and XYplorerFree are different programs that by default install in different locations and can be run side by side without any problems.

I suggest you do the default installation and everything will work.

Open the Features config page: Tools > Configuration > Select Features from the sidebar.
Activate any of the features (optimally all) and press OK. Now you can enable custom icons.

Don, pat55 installed the pro edition over a previous free installation. "XYplorer2" is just the folder name, probably created as a troubleshooting sandbox.

Not here. The only way would probably be to install the Pro version over the Free version in the location of the free version. Never heard of anybody doing this. Are you?

When I look at the top of the config screen - it keeps saying "XYPlorerFree" - Is this just a bad label?

NONE of my assigned Microsoft Icons show anywhere. Just like in win 10 file explorer. Admin said they would???

I now have three installations XYPlorerFree, XYPlorer, XYPlorer2
The XYPlorer (second) were installed on free files copied to 'Roaming' and 'Program (x86) ' folders.
The third install was by telling the installation to install in "XYPlorer2' location.

In spite of this - the heading label of the Config folder says XYPlorerFree - is this just a bad label or what?

I get the notion that one perhaps needs to remove all traces of XYPlorer (including Free) in order to have a correct installation?
Am I wrong? <lord please say yes>

Is there stuff outside of the Roaming and the Program folders that I must delete?

The best way is to just follow the instructions. Run the installer (XYplorer_16.50_Install.exe), click OK to each dialog. Done.
