Preview Pane !!
Being that "Easily the most wished XYplorer enhancement of recent years" it really deserves to come with a factory keyboard shortcut given the likelihood just about everyone will use it.
Minor point: (This applies to all over XY.) Being one who does not think in terms of pixels or per cents wish there was an option available to show graphic dimensions in term of inches. Wish list worthy!

Okay, missed that.
But in my OLD installation when clicking Window and staring at Show Preview Pane no shortcut is there. Depends on a user's point of view.

It's just that the preview pane entry didn't get the shortcut automatically when you upgraded your installation from v16.30.0004+

Got it manually fixed now. Maybe much ado about very little. Apologize to those who spent time reading about this.
But would still very much like to see INCHES show up.

Re: Preview Pane !!
Inches depend on pixels-per-inch, which depends on how/where you print it. Do you mean inch on your screen? Or on what?

Re: Preview Pane !!
Did not really comprehend issue was so complex as the values are interrelated.
Have been spoiled by paint.net where resolution is always left set at 72 pixels/inch and print size width by height just shows up in inches.
Given this it appears there is no way to do what had been hoped for. Sometimes simplicity can be elusive.

Re: Preview Pane !!
I'm glad Don has finally been able to add the vertical preview pane.
After I re-assigned my Ctrl-F11 shortcut to it it's working great... almost.
It's not his fault but Apple's. All photos that have been sent to me from an iphone are upside down.
Any way of fixing this other than manually? I searched before posting and the only mention I found of this rotation issue had to do when Don was working on the portable device feature.

Re: Preview Pane !!
That's a problem with all XY previews I assume, not just the preview pane, right?
But it's strange, I have many users using XY on their iPhone without such an issue...

Re: Preview Pane !!
Is the EXIF orientation tag correct for these images? All photos that have been sent to me from an iphone are upside down
If not you could easily use e.g. exiftool (http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/) to set the correct orientation for all pictures...

The icon
Having used this feature for all of a day now it is too bad that for such a spectacular addition is has been given such a lackluster icon.
Can it be changed or must #674 be used with a User Button to improve things?

Just tried again and I noticed something even a little stranger.admin wrote:That's a problem with all XY previews I assume, not just the preview pane, right?

I have list view set to display the photos as Thumbnails #2 128x128 and they display ok. But if I select one of them and do a preview, the preview is rotated. ???
Busy on something else at the moment but later today I will take and post some screenshots if it will help.
This isn't a real big problem for me since I don't use an iphone. Just when I receive photos taken with one. Thought I'd mention it in case others saw this too.

Re: Preview Pane !!
I'll send to you later today. Just had someone send me a some new ones. These show up rotated 180 degrees in list view Thumbnails #2 but only 90 degrees in the preview panes.
I need to check and see whether I may have altered the exif in the others I talk about above. Don't want to send you on a wild goose chase with those.
Highend...
Sorry, I missed your post.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've used Exiftool before. That's also why I want to double check the samples I send Don first to make sure I didn't change anything. The exif data in my latest ones will be unchanged.
Not-related to XY, the photos pretty much show up correctly when I view them on my NON-iphone.
In an emailed set the inline preview has them rotated 90 degrees but when I open them in the phone's viewer they are not rotated.
In the same set sent by text message they display and open in the correct orientation.
From what I've read here and on other sites I understand it all has to do with the way Apple is handling the exif data. But as Don mentioned above other XY/iphone users haven't reported anything. I'm just wondering why I'm seeing the rotations and others don't seem to be. Maybe what I send him will provide a clue.
