Double click on the XYPlorer icon and nothing happens. This is Windows Server 2008 R2 64x. It is running under VMware.
All I get is this strange error log:
xyerrorlog-2011-02-16_15-37-30.txt
-----------------------------------
Main: 481 - Invalid picture
Any thoughts?

XYplorer wont fire up on 2008 Server R2 64x
Re: XYplorer wont fire up on 2008 Server R2 64x
By way of standard troubleshooting: does it make any difference when you copy only XYplorer.exe to an empty folder and run it from there? Also, are you running the latest beta?dc310 wrote:Double click on the XYPlorer icon and nothing happens. This is Windows Server 2008 R2 64x. It is running under VMware.

One possible cause would be that your installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 is sufficiently bare (as is the default for it, I believe) that XYplorer can't find something that's always there on client versions. Do you have the Desktop Experience feature installed along with the necessary for multimedia playback?

It exhibits the same problem with a full install or the 'standalone'.
Hmm. "Desktop Experience feature". That gives me a clue to look into. I'll check that out.

OK I deleted my profile from another admin account and re-logged in. All is well. Windows Wierdness.
I'm not going to worry about it. Everything is fine now.

Re: XYplorer wont fire up on 2008 Server R2 64x
Just to add a note...
today my XYplorer would not start with the same error
Even a moved XYplorer.exe to an empty folder would behave the same. Installed the latest version*
and everything worked again, and also the same standalone XYplorer.exe that did not start before.
As far as I know the installer basically copies a bunch of files, so for me it's a mistery!
* I don't think the problem depends from the version because before upgrading I used it normally
for many days

I would say: Reboot Windows.

I had the same issue, after virtualizing the machine.
The problem turned out to be the TEMP folder. It was pointing to a non-existent location.
After correcting it in the 'Environment Variables', XY started up. Phew...

Really, wow, thanks for the info!
XYplorer does not actively use the Temp folder on startup. So Windows does something there behind the scenes... interesting!
