Post by huyaowen »

Can xyplorer change the VIEW according to content?

for example.
If i open a folder full of ducument such as *.doc *.txt ,the VIEW show as LIST.
If the folder filled with image file like *.jpg *.png, the VIEW show as THUMBNAILS automatically like windows' explorer.

thanks a lot.

I wouldn't say automatically but it is certainly more powerful. You could, for example, have a folder of photos and set the Folder View Settings (FVS) to medium thumbnails and have all sub-folders under the main photos folder have either the same folder view setting or have different folder views for a particular folder. Another folder of wallpapers could be a set to a different thumbnail size. Your downloads folder could be set to a details view. You can specify what you want for a default folder view setting when you enter a folder that does not a have a specific FVS established. You simply need to save your folder view initially when you enter a folder and then don't have to worry about it again unless you'd like to change the folder's view settings. First go to the menu Views | Folder View Settings and make sure Folder View settings is enabled. Now when you enter a folder, establish the view you want and simple save your folder view setting by going to the menu View | Folder View Settings | Save Folder View.

Keep in mind as I mentioned above, that if you enter a folder of photos that has many subfolders of categorized photos you may want to set the folder view for the parent folder and then all the sub folders will then automatically have that same folder view. Simply make sure that "Include Subfolders" is checked off in the Edit Folder View Settings dialog. You can edit each folder view setting and manage them all from that Folder View Settings sub menu as well. It's very powerful. Please take a look at the Folder View Settings in the help file for more detailed information.

I put it into a new script (and enhanced it a bit):

 Very funny that you mentioned setting a script up to set a Folder View based on the percentage of file types in the folder. I was thinking of something along those lines but I figured the OP was probably not into scripting yet. You may be giving Don ideas for an AFVS (Auto Folder View Setting). :)
