from time to time i find myself renaming files with Batch or RegEx and being unable to do it 'cause there are collisions but no option to overwrite them. yeah, probably that can be solved with scripting, but i like interface fancy things like Preview. so is there some "flag"(like /e for "drop extension" in Batch) or it must a new Wish?
if so, i'd like to see switch /o to overwrite on collisions of Batch and RegEx Rename.

Re: Batch Rename overwrite?
XY already provides a huge set of solutions to resolve name collisions.
Please look up "collision" in the manual.
Please be more specific with your issue.

Re: Batch Rename overwrite?
what can be more specific: select few files, Files > Rename Special > Batch / RegEx =both can't handle collisions as i see.

Re: Batch Rename overwrite?

Maybe the same considerations apply. It's a good idea. The script author should certainly be allowed to suppress warnings.

Re: Batch Rename overwrite?
Then I misunderstood your statement above. In any case, I think a 'rename' overwrite switch should be available in scripting, where 'rename' is no more dangerous than 'delete'. With a lot of work you can script around getting an unwanted prompt, but that should not be unnecessary.i'd like to see switch /o to overwrite on collisions of Batch and RegEx Rename

Re: Batch Rename overwrite?
yeah, probably missunderstanding- i'm talking only about user-interface: quite unpractical when renaming a bunch of files to "rename-ovewrite" one by one. especially since i already saw Preview and do know that i Want to overwrite.Papoulka wrote:Then I misunderstood your statement above.
